So, I have some bad/sad news. Looks like some of you were right....unfortunately in this case. Despite 3-4 CIC call center reps saying otherwise....the one I got today confirmed that we do NOT have AIP. :(

Guess I will need to ask my name on the spreadsheet to go back to blue :(

Yes, I am approved as a Sponsor. But No, my husband does NOT have AIP she told me. She told me to call back in APRIL if we don't yet have it.

The only positive I can see is that now at least we have time to send my husband's updated Passport info to Vegreville before they process his OWP. :(

So disappointed. My husband is in a horrible mood now. We were job hunting, and planning.....I even picked out some dance classes I wanted to take with the extra money we would have coming in when my hubby gets his new job.....I was thinking we will be able to get my son some nice birthday and Xmas gifts this year.... :(
I don't understand, you have Sponsor approval but why they don't send AIP?

Is it a relationship concern? Or background concern? I thought AIP has nothing to do with background checks. Maybe you can ask MP to pressure CIC to issue your spouse OWP because he has got sponsorship approval, UNLESS there is a relationship concern that they are trying to delay your file.
You are correct; background and medical is part of stage 2 (after AIP). Unfortunately OWP is approved after AIP, not just sponsor approval.

Again, it's based on the flowchart in the ip08 manual (available on CIC's website).

Sponsor approval is 1/2 of AIP. The other 1/2 is assessment of relationship.

People in legitimate relationship have nothing to worry because the day will come, just that there might be some roadblocks along the way based on the personal view of a certain officer. It's not the Yes or No question, it's the matter of how long. Hope ACS file will go fast after another review.

I think there is no better time than now to order GCMS to see what triggers the delay and ask MP Office to inquire to CIC immediately. That might change things overnight. I strongly encourage ACS to go see your MP and direct the question as to why OWP cannot be issued at this stage.

Sorry to hear about your major disappointment over AIP. Honestly there is no reason for AIP to be delayed that long after getting SA, IMO. My best suggestion is to request GCMS notes and find out what's going on with your file.

Oh my goodness ,I hope not. We are deep in debt!
It's a desperation, isn't it? Every time I even think AIP may take even longer that already has, I go crazy on how we will continue to go deeper in debt, and how long we will slave to pay all debt later. As a person who has always been very organized financially, it's beyond frustration. I had prepared for the 6 months (the time-frame when we applied), we're now 15 months in. And still that's how we had to postpone so many things in our life, personally, healthily, financially, professionally, we can't wait to have life back to normal.

What interests me is that, previously, cases with relationship concerns got forwarded to local Inland offices for investigation and interview and the wait will be years, why the phone agent advised her to call back in a few months to learn about the outcome of AIP? Are they now conducting final review of ALL cases at Mississauga per new policy?
I do not know of any recent cases that receive letters advising them of file transfer to local office for further review and interview. That was very often before. Am I wrong?

ACS, i am sorry to hear but i hope the agent you talked to is just one of those who gives wrong information. Aside from the other suggestions, i suggest to call again and pretend you didnt know anything. Lets see if he/she has different info. Im hoping its just one of the inconsistencies of cic.
Other than that, i am noticing other mind boggling differences in the processing of our apps. Ive seen people who "almost" got their AIPs pending other document like csq, option c print out, marriage cert. i mean it seems like they re open the file after 14 months then decide then send you missing docs. So now, even if you have been this far from the app date and almost there, you expect evrything is complete but NO. I wonder what kind of process flow chart they use or do they? Anything can happen... And while we have been waiting so long, medical expire and yet you dont know if you have to re do it again. The very reason why you did upfront medical to shorten the process. So disappointing.

Thank you.

She said she can see no notes about why it is taking longer.

I strongly doubt there would be any sort of relationship concern.

My husband is 5 years older than me. We have plenty of proof we have known each other for 9 years and been together for 8 years, married for 5, with an (almost) 4 year old son together. Neither of us is above the other really in looks or education. We both speak fluent English and Spanish. Neither of us are religious.

If it is an issue with his record that should be addressed during the 2nd stage….right??

Maybe the agent wasn't sure what she's talking about. Or it just takes a couple more days for your AIP to officially come. You can try to call back and speak with someone else.

I got my GCMS notes like 2 days before my Sponsorship Approval. I guess I can order again....with another month wait.

But don't the Call Center agents see basically what is in our GCMS notes? She said there are NO notes to indicate why there is no AIP issued yet. She said it is very rare and unusual that AIP is not issued along with Sponsorship Approval. She up me on hold twice to verify and then confirm again with there help desk that that is the case.

She said they have a timeline of withing 6 months after Sponsorship Approval we should get AIP....wtf?!?

She also checked and said everything is good with our payments, and she can see no other concerns listed. She has no idea why there is a delay between my SA and AIP. She seemed pretty surprised actually. And as she said it must be rare, because she had to confirm twice with her help desk to be sure.....

Then again we had 3 agents tells us that we DID have AIP....

But she said for sure for sure we do not.....

How come other people on the forum did get an open work permit without an email to the person being sponsored? I don't trust the CIC agent, you better start asking for an inquiry about the OWP in Vegreville ACS.

I don't trust that agent.
People here are getting OWPs which is only possible post-AIP.
Either your case is special or that agent is misinformed.
