I forgot to mention I have several text messages that I would like to include in my application and wondered if any one had any suggestions as to the best way to put them in the application? I had actually typed them all out in microsoft word but I think somehow they want more solid proof of it being an actual text message...like maybe a photo of the phone with the message open??? Thx all.
Contact your cell phone provider, sometimes they can print them off for you. Or maybe you can email them to your email address from your cell. I am not sure how you could do that. I did not send any texts because we had to much on Facebook and Skype that my package I sent was crazy thick. Maybe Goatlove or Jamali will have a better idea.

Welcome to the forum Andyloonz, I was so glad too to find this forum when we did our application. At the time it was pretty quiet and I'm glad there are others joining, as they say the more the merrier .. and this forum does help with this waiting game we all have to play :p

hmmm about the text messages, i'll ask my husband about that because he found a program where he was able to print out all our text messages. I'll let you know what he says.

Good luck to you and your husband!!

so my husband says there are programs which are available where you can print out your text messages, but he said it depends on what kind of phone you have .... because each phone does have its own programs regarding this.

so what kind of phone do you have?

Welcome andyloonz :) Nice to have more people join.
Guys I received an e-mail this morning from Mississauga Processing Centre asking to submit updated IMM1344, IMM6406 and IMM5490.

As mentioned before I downloaded all my forms from CIC website in July and took them with me in August to Morocco, and unfortunately in August/September the above forms were updated by CIC and there is no grace period while using old forms. I learnd of the changes on my own a couple weeks ago now through this amazing forum and immediately re-did the 3 forms and sent it to my husband to sign and send back DHL.

So this afternoon as per instructions received I couriered the new forms with a copy of the letter with a note on the envelope "ADD ON to UCI#..."

andyloonz, since you were in Morocco recently too, make sure you have the correct forms as currently on the CIC website, you can check the dates of the forms at the bottom of each form you have already printed as to what date is on the website.

Part 1: Sponsorship forms

Guide to Sponsorship [IMM 3900]
•Document Checklist [IMM 5491] (PDF, 159 KB) January
•Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking [IMM 1344] (PDF, 417 KB) August 2013

•Sponsor Questionnaire [IMM 5540] (PDF, 160 KB) April 2008
•Use of a Representative [IMM 5476] (PDF, 55 KB) April 2013

Part 2: Immigration forms

Sponsorship of a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child living outside Canada [IMM 3999]

Forms

that's great Jomz, that they're only asking you for updated documents as opposed to sending back your entire application ... it's so lucky you took the initiative and got your husband to send you the updated forms ... way to be the ball!!! ;D 8)

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, it's so nice to find support from others going thru the same unique situation. I will definitely pack warm jacket and pj's for Feb, thanks for that advice!

terry73 I don't have a smart phone OR a data plan so I can't email with it, but I'll try contacting my provider about printing them off.

jamali I am with Fido for my cell phone and it's an LG neon about a year old.

jomz thank you so much for that tidbit, it's wonderful how you all want to help us newbies from suffering the same delays. That is frotunate that you only had to send in updated forms and not the whole application again. It's so overwhelming and tedious the first time, I can't imagine having to redo it ???

Looking so forward to getting to know you all....

I was just putting all my papers away so I can finally see my dining room table hhhhh and I looked at my initial courier slip, was curious as to the weight of my file, and it was 4.57 kg that's 10 lbs

You are welcome andyloonz. :) This is a great supportive forum, with a great deal of valuable information. If you are stuck, or have questions ask away. I noticed you mentioned you are translating documents, I hope you do know that you don't have to translate if the document is in French! All the ones I had from Morocco were in French and Arabic so I just attached them without translation/notarization.

O jomz, I had a feeling that was true, but the translator in Khemisset told my hubby that all documents had to be translated into one language, either English or French!! Do you know for sure it's acceptable to have some in French and some in English?

That's the first time I hear that all have to be in French or English. All my supporting documents are in French and English (even our e-mails, chat logs/SMS etc, because we speak both French and English with each other, marriage cert. police clearance, birth certificate, medical receipt of my husband are in French, rest of the forms are in English. I think as long as the documents are either in French or English they are good for Canadian government.

Would love to hear what Jamali, Goatlove, and Terry did if they translated to English or not. I didn't and since Mississauga asked me for the 3 forms they did not mention that the French docs they have need to be replaced with translated ones, so I can only assume they are good.

Welcome andyloonz! ;D

My husband and I also both speak French and sent in documents both in French and English. CIC states that documents that are in another language asides from English and French must be translated by a certified translator. I didn't see or read anywhere that it must all be in one or the other. We haven't had any problems with having both English and French documents. We only got a certified translator to translate our marriage contract from Arabic to English. I also read that somebody told you that you must pay the full amount of $1040 with your application but that's not true. CIC states on their website that the $490 for The Right of Permenant Residence Fee can be paid once approved. The website strongly recommends paying in full to avoid delays but it's not a must to pay the $490 right away with the application.

About text messages - we just took screen shots, uploaded them on the comp and printed.

Take care and good luck ;D

Since Canada has 2 official languages, they do accept the forums and documents in either language .. it does not have to be one language. It says so right in the forums, that they can be submitted in either english or french and has no mention that it only has to be ONE language.

I know some of my husband's documents were in french and when we went to the translator to translate our contract of marriage because it was in arabic, the translator informed us that we didn't have to translate the french documents. it only confirmed our beliefs because we had already read on the application that we can submit in english and french.

Good luck!!

btw- Agadir is beautiful in February!!! I couldn't believe how much colder Rabat was compared to Agadir  I was frozen haha. I guess Agadir is a lot more down south than Rabat though. The nights in Agadir were a bit chilly but no fall/winter jacket needed.
