Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Wow...what a nice lady. I wish we have someone like this in Colombo office.
Waiving $5 is not bad. But i like something like speed up the processing by 5 weeks..lol.
Do you think geting CAIPS may speed up the processing? Colombo may think that you and CIC are watching your application now so it is better to process it as soon as possible? I hope it does.
Can they do anything with how colombo dealing with our emails?

No it doesnt affect colombo in any way... all it does is lets us know what stage we are in.. thats all i really want to know...

Ecas doesnt update for us, so something like this helps determine the time line

They will provide application status in colombo rite? So they have to request colombo your application status.

No, Again colombo plays no role in CAIPS. Ottawa has access to the notes made on our file as per the CIC computer system. All they do is print it out.

They only contact Colombo if you request for an actual copy of the file. Doing this will delay the process so it is generally not done.

The CAIPS notes on the other hand is just a simple 7 page print out. What they do is once u make the request, they print out the documents and that is then examined to make sure that everything is ok and then mailed out.

So colombo does not need to be involved for this. It's all computers

After a long time, I couldn't to log to this forum. how is Spring in Canada.
Do you know what is the Status Flow of E-CAS Online System under PR Application Status.

Because Still there is "Application received"( From Mid of January, My Application Received by Colombo Office on 20/10/2010) under PR Application , What are the Next status Until get Visa.

I'm in the same boat as u! I just got my CAIPS notes tho and it says that they are doing the security check. I guess once they do all the security checks, they will give us the green light..

Wow...nice to hear that Mell. It shows that they are processing your app. I thought status will change to In Progress or processing when they are working on app. Not sure why it havent changed for you.
I see same status , App Received, in eCAS as well.

Mell, will you get CAIPS notes or its just one time? So if your app status changed then will they send you updated CAIPS?

Hi everyone! I've got a quick question...

I sponsored my Husband in Mid-September of 2010, and i got the process letter by the end October 2010, i am in absolute doubt about the process time. it states in the immigration website that 80% of the files take 16 months!!! I am now almost 7 months into the sponsorship, and i dont know how much longer i need to wait? I also do not know when my husband's medical/police report expires? he received it in August 2010. Will the embassy Contact us if we need to renew it again?

I heard they give visa before medical expires. I hope it is true. Two of my friends got visa right after end of 7 months. I hope you will get good news soon.
I applied in Oct 2010. No news from Colombo so far.

Watnxt - Nothing on Ecas changes!! Its just for the simple purpose of being part of the system. My status hasn't changed either despite the fact that they are processing our file. Which is in a way good news because we know they are doing something about it!

shif00 - Welcome to the thread! You and everyone else on this thread is pretty much in the same boat when it comes to not knowing how long we need to wait. However I can help you out with your medical and police report question. Medicals expire a year after they have been done. So your husband's medicals will expire in August. If by August, you haven't recieved the visa yet you need to be prepared for 2 things.

1. Redo the medicals - The embassy will contact you for sure..
2. Prepare to recieve your visa days before the medical expires which in turn would mean he would have to fly immediatley. Your husband unfortunately cannot land in Canada if his medicals have expired even by a day... I know a few people that got their visas 3-4 days before the medical expired and they had to fly out ASAP. so have your finances ready for all of this...

Now the police reports is a different matter. Don't worry about it as that has no specific expirey date. CIC-Colombo does have an internal check that they conduct, so regardless of when your police report expires, it will have no effect on your application!

And yeah, the CIC time is totally bogus. It's actually 16 months now, last month it was sitting at 17 months. No one knows when they will get the visa. And we have gotten ZERO responses to our inquiries.

So there you go..

Same here, work is busy. Plus I am mentaly tired of this sponsor stuff. So everythign looks slow for me. Getting angry easly now days..lol...i know its not good.
I use bell last 4 years and never had issue. Call them and talk with bell.

more than 1.5 hours with them on the phone yesterday on hold!! something wrong with the systemt... god and today the guy i spoke to refused to transfer my call to a supervisor. 6 calls in 2 days and spoke to more that 10 people. finally its being resolved.. or at least i think so..

yeah i know, i'm tired of it too hubby is super stressed about it and so am i. we snap at eachother easily. both on pins and needles about this. its driving us nuts!! we get thru one problem and then 10 more pile up.

its getting harder and harder to be positive. to top it all off, they rejected mom's visitor visa. she's re-applying and i had to get an affidavite signed by a lawyer with me taking an oath infront of them.

cost another 50 bucks just for the signature. omg i feel like some days i'm going to kill someone!!!!

We get into fight easly now days. I told my girl that these visa office is harming our relationship. If they keep like this for years then i dont think we will be in the mood of living together. lol.
It is not good to keep relationship apart for long time. We lived only 2 weeks together. Only phone calls bind our relationship.

we had a similar situation.. but he visited me here before the wedding so that was good..

our phone bills are HUGE!!!!

don't worry.. have faith, i'm sure it will be ok... all of you should get ur visa before me..

I know there was an issue with Gayan.. but with that exception we should all be good

Yeah, my bill also huge. Now she uses Hutch. for Rs2400, you can talk for 600 min. I have Raza deal as well. Last time i bought $110 card and they gave me 1850 min. I used to pay $350 on long distance.
We dont use Skype. She is shy type. With cell, she can talk from wash room and behind the door. lol.
I said...hey come on...we are marrid couples. You don't have to hide our relationship. We are not "kalla kathalar". lol
She always want to talk with me but has nothing to talk since we talk every day at least 3 times. If I dont talk much time she goes...u changed now days.. u dont talk with me that much time..bla..bla...lol
