Wow. A lot of us very frustrated here. Guys I mailed my app in November 2010 and received a correspondance from CIC here and that was it. I was wondering if the Visa office in Colombo will sent out a letter about the status of the application. We haven't received anything other then the letter I received here in Canada. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

YAY another colombo applicant! i'm ecstatic that I started this forum

As you have read we have heard nothing about any of our applications Colombo is lousy when it comes to keeping us informed. They totally cut us off sadly..
Can you please share your time line with us?
I think you and I should get the visa around the same time as I filed in November 2010 too.

You were very helpful. My timeline, well I submitted my app in November. Received an approval letter in December indicating my file was sent to Colombo for processing. That was it. I contacted CIC a month ago and they advised me that my spouse should have received a letter about file being opened. Nothing happenen. I e-mailed Colombo and they still haven't responded to me e-mail. How are we supposed to find out abt the status. This was 3 weeks ago. Do you know how long it takes to get a reply from Colombo.

I sent my application in Oct. Same as you, no update from colombo. I sent colombo email in Feb ( I guess it was in first week of feb). Still no reply. Since there wasn't any contact with colombo, we dont have file number.
I am hearing from ppl that colombo takes closed to 8 month to process the app now days.

recently,, i heard that ppl are "paying" workers in the embassy and asking them to issue the visa quickly and it seems that those ppl are taking advantage of the files. They are issuing some one else visa to the ppl which payed them. this is horrible. i really hope that its not true and it does not happen to anyone of us. May God be with us.
7 months have been complete for me and I still havnt heard from the colombo office

I would be a bit more patient until May end if I were you. I know its hard and trust me i understand since i'm in the same boat as you, but the norm over the last 2 years has been 8 months. So hang in there.

By the way my people, did anyone enjoy the bad weather we had over the weekend???
I literally did nothing but stayed at home and watched TV over and over again :S

Watnxt I just watched random movies on netflix ALL WEEKEND! lol. Yeah I know what you mean. it's so blah just sitting around and doing nothing.
everyone expected me to call and wish for the new year and i didnt so had some complaints. u know so far i have had to spend christmas, jan 1st and my b'day alone and didnt need to feel horrid about spending the sinhala tamil new year alone too.
stupidness right? but i just didnt feel like it. i was totally out of it. sadly, my in-laws expected the customary phone calls. i almost felt like telling them that here i am trying not to think about another day of the year that is supposed to be spent with family but u know i come home to an empty apartment every day and they still expect me to be cheerful about life. instead i just told them not to take it personally and that i didnt even call my mom to wish.
sometimes, its just easier to avoid that kinda conversation na?

Thanks Shif. Glad to be a member of this mysterious journey of attaing the visa. I heard about tthose unjust acts from embassies but not so in Canadian. Well I hope that is not true.

That was not very nice, I ended leaving because my srilankan visa expired on the 12th of October. So special events have been happening the way it shouldn't be. hehehe i'm planning on quitting my job soon for another role if i get that other job and secretly hoping that they will escort me out thanks to all the confidential info involving my role. if they do, i am so going away for 10 days to see my husband.. lol.. i'm literally plotting my escape at this point!
