Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Hi Mell,
Based on what they told my wife, they process files that older than 6 months. Since they got my file in Nov, we have to wait for month or so. It doesnt mean they will give PR/Visa in 1 month, they will just start processing it. I am going to send them another email. I hope they will response to this one. They didnt responed me earlier.
My wife thinks the person answering ppl at Colombo, doesnt no much about processing. She is just BSing.

Don't email. Don't call and ask ur wife not to go to the embassy anymore.

I spoke with our lawyer yesterday and she said that the less communication we have with them, the faster it is.

And that person was totally lying because they have started processing my file and it was before the 6 month mark. They dont know what they are talking about.

Just sit tight. I am 100 percent sure your file has been put in for processing. So dont worry.

The lawyer said that unless there are other complications, all her clients have been getting the visa at the 6 month point. She has not been wrong with her time lines and I know she knows the facts. So relax.

by the way, when did ur wife get her medicals done?

It was in Sept, 2010. My wife asked them is it okay to come and check status or email you. They said if you want to know about your application status, you can do it. Its okay with us...that what they said.
Yeah, as you said, i will keep quite for next few weeks.

don't mention names or anything. Just say that she comes with a very good recommendation.

tell her financially u would like to know if u can afford her services and then proceed from there.

Mel, just for clarification, is it 6 months from the time they receive the file in Colombo?
On the CIC website, it states average of 16 months for processing so you think it would really work out in 6 months.

Yea, from the time they received the file. It doesnt mean that they give visa right after 6 month. They told my wife that they will start processing files after 6 months. Same time Mell found out that they already start processing her file, before 6 months.

that's good news though.. that means all our files our probably in process. Mine is going through security screening as we speak and the due date was 2 weeks ago for them to see if it was complete. So... It sounds like if all is well they should give us the visa soon. However our medicals expire in June and our 6 months end in July.. So that sucks i guess..

I am hearing that some ppl got visa with in 4/5 months. My wife said some ppl are asking her like " how come that girl,... this girl..applied after you guys and they got visa but u?" "Are you sure your man applied properly?"
Not sure how those ppl are getting so early.
Mell..i strongly believe that you will get visa before your med expire, which is by end of next month. Good luck.

Thank u watnext. I'm pretty sure u will too. It only makes sense. Plus its a lot faster if the husband is sponsoring the wife instead of the other way around. Don't worry about what other ppl are saying.. Tell ur wife not too either. I ignore the opinions of people that are not going thru what we are.. Like I say, if u haven't been thru it before, u don't know hard complex this process is..
