Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Thank you Mell and Wantxt for the clarifications. So Wantxt, did they inform you that they were conducting the security screening?

My file was received in Colombo on the 20th of December, so I guess they are probably working on it now. Correct guys??

T7, they didnt tell my wife anything about Security Screening. So not sure what my application status at this moment. eCAS says "Application Received" last 6 month. Colombo received my App in mid NOV.
I send my app to Mississauga 7 months ago. Hope we will get some good new next month. Colomobo had so many holidays this month.
T7 are you Sinhalies? I heard ppl who live in South or Colomobo get visa earlier than North ppl.

Hey T7, It also said my file was sent on the 20th of Dec, but the date that counts is the date that they received the file and acknowledged the receipt of it. Mine was opened by CIC colombo and put into the system on the7th of Jan.

You should be able to find this out from the Call centre here or the letter that they sent you stating when the file was sent.

How about the date we see on eCAS under PR status? I was counting the days based on that date. Is it different from "System Entry Date" for you?

No its the same! I forgot to put that in. That info is updated once the file is actually in Colombo. Mine is for the 7th of Jan 2011.

arrrrrrrrrrrrr....now i dont know when did colombo enter my info. Based on eCas they received my application in Mid of Nov.
Do I have to call CIC to find out? If i call, what should i have to ask them? Will they have those info?
Would it possible that you app has been entered into system in Jan bz of XMAS?

Yeah. When I called they told me they sent the file on the 20th of December. But the file wasn't opened by CIC colombo until the 7th at which point Ecas started working for me.

I can confirm this because the date Ecas changed for me, the date that they said they started working on my file is the same as the date on my CAIPS notes.

What date do you see in eCAS under "PR App"? Is it Dec 20 or Jan 7?
I received letter from mississauga saying that they send colombo my app on Nov 5th.

I see Nov 16th. So I guess that is when they opend file? It looks like there 11 gap between the app send date and received date.

May 16th is when ur 6 months are up.

Hey Mel, this is confusing. the correspondence that I received from CIC, it stated file sent on December 20th. I believe that is when ur file was also sent to Colombo. Right? So we might be in the same boat in terms of processing time.
