If OP has left Jamaica before turning 18 and has never went back to jamaica since, then OP doesn't need to provide police check from Jamaica.

Would she need one for Canada? I think only if CIC explicitly requests it, right?

She won't need one from Canada either. Like you said, unless CIC specifically request it. This does not means she is in trouble. It usually means that someone of the same name and birth date in Canada has a criminal record and want to separate her from the existing criminal record. Doesn't want them mixed up down the road.

Someone who posts 2 threads on the same day with the same background, in 1 claiming to be 21 and in another 22 is a troll. And if even true, one has to wonder why if in Canada for 4 years without prior PR app., and the mother has been a PR since 1979?

One can come to Canada as a student (3 year permit and extend it for another 2)

Regarding mother: I recently met an American lady (married, from Detroit) who has been PR since 1965. She isn't yet a citizen. Reason?
The citizenship process is too tedious. She has lived in more than 15 addresses in 40+ years and could not remember some of them. So she put the papers aside for a while!!

One only need to worry about the addresses in the 4 year period prior to submitting application. I would have thought renewing your PR card would be more tedious than filling out a Canadian citizenship application.

I've applied for citizenship and remembering all the entry/exit dates are a pain. And if you have too many of them, I hear CIC gives you a hard time. I take my citizenship test in a week and since I have a lot of travel out of Canada (to visit my wife frequently), that may be held against me and really delay things. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

It's ironic. My frequent visits to see my wife before and after we got married probably helped my sponsorship but hurt my citizenship.

Don't forget to allow for pre-Christmas postal delays. CIC must officially receive your application before your birthday.

Thanks...sending it by Courier with a signed receipt request. Should be ready to go by Monday December 2, 2013.....EXACTLY 14 days after finding this site when I was searching for any which way forward. Recommend this site to anyone with immigration issues or questions. Da best!

HOW TO GET A POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM JAMAICA...

I have been here since I was 18

Are you sure you even need a police check from Jamaica? Read the guide to be sure: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp
Police certificates
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

And from the country specific guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3909e.pdf
POLICE CERTIFICATES AND CLEARANCES
Police certificates or clearances (antecedentes penales) from each country in which you and every one in your family aged 18 years or over have resided six months or more since reaching 18 years of age.

So if you haven't lived in Jamaica for more than 6 months since you turned 18, and in fact have been in Canada since you turned 18... then I don't think you need to include any police checks at all.

I left Jamaica in July 2009 and I had turned 18 December 19, 2008....so I lived there for over 6 months after turning 18. Not taking any chances!

When you come to Edmonton, you should go work at this warehouse called WDDC. They pay $17/hr to start, and there are quite a bit of Jamaicans working there, you should feel at home.

Yeah, has to be outland.

It will be tough to send in a complete application in such short notice. It took me and my wife months to put together a complete application. I think CIC gives a little leeway on the police clearances (sending it in later) but I'm pretty sure they will return applications without medicals.

Haffi big up my Mom...she's on top of everything and she pulls out all the certificates I need to photocopy for my application...she has everything from years ago...OXOX Mom :-*

Ok, you definitely need that police certificate. Good thing you are on top of it already!

Question....If I validate a form and then go back and change something on the form, does it have to be re-validated? If yes - do I just hit the validate button again?
