I did a little bit of reading when you originally posted this, and the only way non-Muslim expats can get married legally in Dubai is at their embassy. Any reason Lebanon would not recognise it? I think that is the best route.

no the religion originated in lebanon and is recognized.

im lebanese Canadian but my wife is syrian. Hopefully things go smoothly. I will update when I return to canada before the end of feb.

Even though your wife is Syrian, you have dual citizenship (Lebanese / Canadian)? If you, you should still be able to register it at the Lebanese embassy? Worth trying before you leave Dubai.

yeah im going to dubai just to try this at the embassy since the ottawa lebanese embassy wont help at all. :'(

Didn't see that she can't visit to Canada earlier. Because then the solution was a simple civil ceremony in Canada that is cheap and gives you a certificate. Is it possible to visit a 3rd country and have a civil ceremony and register your marriage? You mentioned Lebanon recognizes your marriage, why not first try with the Lebanese consulate first, and if not that, visit Lebanon or any third country and get a civil ceremony done? However make sure, you would need photographs of your marriage ceremony and proof of relationship in either case.

You can alternatively try sponsoring her as a conjugal partner where you have to demonstrate relationship but not marriage.

We applied for PR for my wife from Dubai whos Syrian 1 month ago and now they are saying they need Marriage certificate issued by civic authorities.

Now we have a religious wedding with a religious certificate sent to them already. nothing in government because our religion is rare. 1 million left on this earth and Dubai wouldn't give us a civil wedding unless we say we are Muslim which we are not.

And they also want a police certificate from lebanon which i dont know why.

please help what should I do?

We applied for visitor visa first long ago but she got rejected because I called her wife. So they said not enough ties to country even tho she showed a job and university 2 years remaining at the time of application.

Now the embassy in uae for lebanon is saying they need a stamp from the uae foreign affairs. and the uae foreign affairs wont stamp it without first a stamp from lebanon's foreign affairs.

ughhhhhhhhhhhh so stressful.



Anyone know if i can't make the 60 day timing will they throw out the application? I might need more time since no one will help us and recognize my religion.

i dunno enough to trick the notary and since they dont send a real one to the cic they send a copy and a certified notarization saying its a real copy of the original.

It would have to be a country that provides visa free access....however...if she has Dubai residency you could access more countries....

Look up getting married in Tblisi Georgia...some posts on tripadvisor make it sound somewhat straightforward..
