In my whole life I've never been in touch with an MP (I wasn't even born in Canada
), and last week was the first time, ever, that I got in touch with one.....I wrote her an email, telling her that I sent my sponsorship application, that the CIC surpassed my normal processing times, and that I hadn't got an AOR, bla bla bla. And at the end of the email, I made a simple request, asking her whether she can contact the CIC to find out what's going on ^^. So I imagine if you really had to contact an MP, you could do the same
Neither have I my friend. never in my life here in Greece or during my years in Canada had the need to approach a politician for any favors. But life turns things around. Don't it?
Do you have a Canadian postal code in mind? Perhaps your old postal code? Or your family's/relatives'? You can
plug it in here to find out who your MP is =)
i do remember my postal code in Scarborough but how can this help me? (btw I checked the link and it works fine) but I do not like to lie to them and fake that i am in Canada. Maybe if the time passes and still don't have anything from CIC then I can send a straight forward email to them and tell them that when I get back i will vote for them hehe!
Glad to know that Aspa's not vomiting anymore!! Did the hospital confirm that she really was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum then, much like
Kate Middleton??
The place that she is now is only a medical centre so the doctors there cannot do much, Hopefully her own gynecologist will make a diagnosis on Friday and at the same time we will know how is our baby
Hey those foods sound so awesome!! Don't tell me you have spanakopita (my favourite!) too?! =P
Spanakopita i had just a couple days ago. My sister makes a wicked one! Where are you in Canada (I forgot) maybe when we come i will make one for you!
I've always wondered: what are the main reasons you and Aspa are planning to leave Greece...? 8)
We have been together since August 15th 2008. I had separated from my wife of many years 8 months prior to that and to this day I am still on plight to get my divorce so we can marry!
Aspa is Macedonian and i a Greek.
Aspa is 28 I am 56.
Our love is tested and is strong and pure! our two countries do not have the best of relations (contrary to ours )because of a name dispute! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macedonia_naming_dispute)
Greece is a member state of EU and Schengen accord. Macedonia is not.
Its nearly impossible to have a legal status for Aspa here so since February 2009 we have setup a homestead here in my hometown of Thessalonika (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thessaloniki) but we drive to her country (her town Gevgelia is by the Greek-Macedonian border0 and only 78 km away!
What we do is using the privilege that Greece has to abide to allow Maceonians to visit Greece 90 days for every six moth period! So..... Aspa works at ther town, commutes by bus here or I pick her up on her days off and I am there on my days off. So our life has been rolling like this thanks to stupid immigration laws.
This past December 19th I had a court date (the final one) for my divorce and guess what! It was postponed due to a court clerks strike. Greece is in a turmoil of political and social unrest I am sure you read the news
My new court day is June 5 2013 and hopefully is not going to have the same fate. So if everything goes well, the judge will come back with a positive decision 3-4 months after the court and then another 3-4 months for my divorce to take effect from the Greek Orthodox church so I will have this paper in my hands by any luck sometime like March to April 2014.
Of course then its not the end of our problems. We are going to get married soon after but she will only be allowed to stay here in Greece when we apply to the Greek border services and the courts .They of course will take their time just because......
Coming to Canada is mostly for me. She never asked for this and she is rather be anywhere where I am as she is a person who is happy without the need of a big life. Very modest and humble.
I want to get away from all these! I am sacrificing a good job and a Career here but I rather lose it than live in a country where everything are falling apart. I am not a coward... I have been a fighter of life for many many years... I just realized this. Greece will need another 10 years ( a very optimistic calculation) to get out of the austerity crisis! Crisis that means a total break down for life how we used to know it. (Look what happens to Spain too 50% unemployment) So let's see. Another 2 years so we can finally live
together plus 10 years for the end of the austerity= 12 years+my 56 years=68.
Simply...I do not have the time to wait and pay for the financial crimes my government did! I will become a daddy in 7 months. I owe it to the baby, Aspa and my self to give them a safer living.
I know that I would not find a red carpet rolled out for me when I get back in Canada. I will start from zero, and I will prevail! Of course there would be times when I will be missing my country, the warm summers but what the heck..Who said that you can have everything!
BTW. Its 22:11 here now and still haven't got anything from CIC...*sigh*
P.S.: I've always wanted to visit the Kos island!
Lovely island near Rhodes. "Απεραντο γαλαζιο" (Endless blue) The eternal Aegean sea!
Check this out. Is where we live (our Greek home only 10 meters from the beach)
