Been lurking in the forums since submitting our application. We've made some progress but we're not there yet.
Attempting to sponsor my fiancée from the USA as a conjugal partner. (It's a long story, let's just say we can't get married and we can't afford to have her move her and live with me for a year while still maintaining her ties to the USA.)
Anyway...

On April 11 we got our first response saying the Case Officer did not feel we met the requirements for Conjugal Partners. He/She raised some specific concerns about our case. We put together some more documentation and sent it on May 9. On May 16 we received another notice, asking for some specific documentation and to pay the RPRF. The receipt for the RPRF was received at CPC-Ottawa yesterday and the other documents were mailed to them yesterday from Chicago so they should be there next week.
We're hoping that them telling us to pay the RPRF is a good sign...after all, if all the additional documentation we sent in wasn't good enough to prove our case they would have just rejected us, right? We've been figuratively holding our breath for weeks now and it's taking a toll. We're worried if it drags out too long she won't be able to do the landing process before her medical expires in August. Her only scheduled trip to Canada to visit me right now is very early in July and ideally we'd like to have her land on that visit. I just came back from a visit with her, but we don't want to schedule any more flights because we don't know if/when she'll finally be allowed to move so we need to save the money as much as we can.
Before we started our relationship, I had NO idea it would be so hard for an American to move to Canada.
