Thank you very much messenger, I am very happy to see you know about Somalia!

Many people have no clue where it is located...or anything about Somalia for that matter!
I would be ashamed as a human to declare ignorance about geography of our world. The further I've been in East Africa was Kenya which is one of your neighboring countries

And I am assuming you travel often, because you know a lot about different countries and ethnicities, :)

I am blessed to have a job that takes me around the world.

It seems that Somali people all over the world are not exactly handling living circumstances in the different countries.
And I feel that after the Civil War it made the situation a lot worse..

Yeah unfortunately this is what civil wars do to nations! We had also a civil war in 1948!

It is very disappointing to see the amount of discrimination that is still out there in the world. And its not only a problem in Greece, rather it is a problem in many places (some worse than others!)

My friend it disgusts me totally to see people discriminating against someone of different color or creed! Here in Greece we were brought up respecting those differences because our culture command it! But due to the austerity crisis out of nowhere we now have our own fascist party that beats up and terrorizes immigrants! Sad....very sad

Iay, I feel like a mix of two races always has a BEAUTIFUL end product! lol

A very wise and lucky man you are, messenger! (and what an amazing job you have!)

I am very embarrassed to say, but I have seen a number of cases in which people IN Canada have done discriminatory acts against people of certain races and/or religions, so there is definitely no denying it...it still exists!!

And there are so many people who are unaware situations in the world, or choose to be ignorant about these things; and I appreciate seeing people like you messenger. :P

Good luck to you and your wife, in all aspects of life (including her pregnancy, which I am very happy to hear about! :) )

Hey ldumitriu,

congrats on the AOR, you're updated on the spreadsheet - and to the others on the thread - nice stories! good way to pass time together!
Sweden

PS: moving to Paris was the right move :-) I mean - you followed somebody and got to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - can't loose at that game!

Is there a March thread going on? I can't find it. (Granted, it is only the 5th!)

Wrapped up my meds today and will be sending my application (outland/common law) within the next week! Woooooo!!! 8)

I haven't seen one yet, perhaps you can start one. Congrats on the application, such a huge relief to send it in. The relief only lasts for a few hours, then you start worrying about the Canada Post tracking, then the AOR, then the SA...it goes on and on. Hope the March board is as good as the February board. Good bunch of people here.

I hope you don't mind me asking where are all you nice people from?
I am Greek-Canadian (the sponsor) and my spouse Aspa is Macedonian (the immigrant)

Its kind of hard to speculate the origin of everyone here just by seeing a flag on the profile!

I'm Erryn (principal applicant) born and raised in South Australia, My better half Reed (sponsor) was born and raised in south western ontario.. which is where we reside now. 10minute drive from lake erie, which i must say is bloody incredible! lol we are lucky enough to be 2ish hours from most things here in ontario. detroit, port huron, niagara falls and toronto are all about 2 hours away so ive been able to see a little of ontario... but im not nearly the traveller we are learning that you are messenger :) I would love to have seen even half the places you have listed that you have been to!

It is hard to keep up with all the questions here so I missed the original post on this!! I am from the USA (currently in Pennsylvania) and my wife is from just outside Toronto. We are fortunate enough to be able to travel back and forth to see each other quite often (25 times in the past 2 years and 2 months). It is nly a 6.5 hour car drive. It still is hard every time we have to say goodbye. :(

I'd love to hear where everyone else is from!!

Hi Kuudir2

Yeah I am very happy with my job. Despite the crisis the company I work for is doing well but I will eventually have to quit in order for us to return to Canada.

Discrimination exists in all races of people! Believe me when I say it!

You alone can not correct the wrongs of this world! I remember once in the summer of 89 my then wife, me and my mother were sitting in the yard of our house in north Scarborough having a coffee and my mother naturally spoke in Greek because she was too old to learn English! A guy passing by outside of our house turned and said to our direction "Speak English you damn broad"
There you go! What shall I do? Characterize all Canadians bigots? No way. I spoke of this incident to my Canadian co-workers and they got so mad they asked me to point him out so they can go and speak to him...you know what I mean?

Many others I have known during my time there, were very happy to know me and my family and always accepted other immigrants
!
So do not think that you will always meet people obnoxious as this! Most of the times you will meet people who are very kind and will be your friends when they get to know you!

Thank you for your wishes and I must say that I am in exhilaration about becoming a dad again although at this age it would have been more proper to become a grant dad! lol But I feel privileged and so happy that I will get to live this one more time!

Regards

Hi Erryn and Reed!

Ontario is so beautiful and the area you live in is amazing. Although I have been away from Canada 23 years now, I used to call Ontario my home for over 10 years and I miss it terribly! (Unfortunately my new place of choice for re settling is Calgary (The Calgarians here please do not misunderstand me as I have never been there)
You must live between Simcoe or Port Stanley ;D In the 80's my daily run from Toronto towards Windsor used to take me through these towns. Lucky you !
Yes my job of 5 years here in Greece, has indeed showed me the world. It's always so nice to know you are to meet new places, but it's twice as good when you re visit those places because by then, you have made friends there!

Hi ldumitriu

Congratulations on your AOR. Wishing you a fast-speedy-process

Hi messenger! What a beautiful history you have! Thank you very much for sharing it with us, I feel privileged for being able to read such nice stories from people all around the world... bear in mind that this same material was sent to the immigration agents! So we're really fortunate to share all this. Thanks again!
I'm Brazilian and my husband is born French-Canadian, from Montreal. I moved to Canada in 2011 to study and one day I thought I could ice-skate (yeah, right... a BRAZILIAN thought that could ice-skate!). So I fell (naturally) and injured my wrist, promising myself never to skate again. When I asked my landlord to help me with the wrist she told me I had to try to skate again and presented me to a phys-ed teacher (and hockey player) colleague of her husband... and the rest is history! It was all meant to be, he is my better half and I knew we were just waiting for each other... like I told him in my wedding vows, I had to cross a whole hemisphere to find him, and it was worth it!

Hey Buffy
Dont worry soon you and the wife will be together for good. Just a little patience!
BTW. I am Greek (sponsor) and my spouse is Macedonian we both live in Greece!

While I was in Canada I drove to Maryland (Silver Springs a suburb of DC actually) on every occasion. Long weekends, holidays etc.
I have family there and also I like Washington very much. To drive 6.5 hours from Torontoi I guess you must be from near Pittsburgh hehehe... After Niagara go west on I90 to Errie, south on I79 towards Pittsburgh , then get on I76 east all the way to the coast! (Of course I had to take a shortcut near Hagerstown MD to go to DC lol. Memories...nice memories. Always followed the Tractor trailers to avoid speed traps hehe

Regards

Hi canard

Your love history is so sweet! You took a fall twice that period it seems! Once in the ring and once when you met your match!

Thank you for the liking our life history (calling it story seems like it was made up...it actually happened...so its life :) )
One day I will post all our 8 pages everyone here will understand that love has no age, race, and any boundaries. Mostly I will do this to show you what can two people endure to be together.
Since we wrote, it I read it on every occasion and it seems that all these things have happened to some other Tom and Aspa (our names)

Have a good day!

Thank you messenger! By the way, have you ever visited Brazil? ;D

No so far, I wish though!
Been to Argentina, Peru, Colombia Panama, and Trinidad-Tobago!
Brazil, what a country! I work for a casino management software systems development company and I go to new casinos for installation and to train the personnel there!

Cheers
