I LOVE love LOVE all these love stories stories. (never used the word love so many times in one sentence )

Hey you guys, let me know when you're planning this thing in Toronto eh? I might be able to travel to the East to meet with you all. I've been in Toronto in April 2012 and it was really fun, to think that I went there for a business trip.

My first name is Tom (Athanasios in Greek) , my spouse is Aspa (Spaska in Serbo-Croat)

i believe I am the oldest member here (57) so here is our story as we have lived it from day one. August 15 2008. We are not married yet. This will be done as soon as I get my divorce that is killing me since 2007.

Our story was written by Spaska and I took care of the syntax! 8)

One evening in August 15th 2008, I was walking out from the staff room to start my shift in the casino where I saw Athanasios and I said good evening. At the time I did not know him as I was fairly new employee. He asked for my name and I said "Spaska" He laughed and asked what kind of name is this. I answered to him that my name is most common in my country.(he being a Greek was not familiar with Slavic names) and from that day he started calling me by my name imitating my voice and accent. I thought this was very amusing and he did this nor to offend me but to make a funny gesture! Athanasios was very likeable person by casino customers as well as employees. His position as a public relations officer taught him how to communicate and approach people and his nature is of very friendly demeanor. In general a sweet and compassionate human being!
After our initial meeting in August 2008, Athanasios was very polite and gentle with me every time he saw me at our work place. I was flattered that he showed interest in me but he never made any hints or behaved improperly. Athanasios as I found out later was from Greece and was working under a contract in the casino here in my country Macedonia a short distance from the Greek-Macedonian border crossing.

Although we have age difference (29 years my senior), at the time I did not know this because he looks a lot younger and I never cared for this as well as I felt very nice around him with feelings of affection and easiness. I noticed also that he was very interested in me because he would come and talk to me with every opportunity. On September 11th 2008 during my shift break he walked up to me and offered me a Milka chocolate bar. His words were: “Only a sweet chocolate compares to the sweetness of you! “

At the same evening he asked me if it's ok for him to call me and I agreed and gave him my cell number. Our communication was in English and some Greek (I was taking Greek language courses at the time)
On the next day I received a text message from him telling me that he was very happy that I had accepted his chocolate and that he looked forward to see me tonight at work (we both worked mostly evenings due to the nature of the work in the casino environment). I saw him again that evening and before my shift finished he asked me if we can meet somewhere outside work for a dinner or coffee. I accepted his invitation and it was agreed that we meet near my town on the 20th of September 2008.
He was prompt on the date picked me up in the afternoon and we drove to a nearby town of Strumica Macedonia where we had supper in a traditional restaurant. We talked and enjoyed each other's company like we knew each other for years. The hours past and by early evening I asked him to drive me home because I didn't want to alert my parents and my sisters (our society in Macedonia is very conservative)

He dropped me near my home and we renewed our date for the next day because I was on my two days off from work and he had to go back to casino to start his work. He called my cell phone as soon as he arrived at work to thank me and tell me that he had a great time and he looked forward to see me again. That night I had the most un-restful sleep of my life because I could not get his voice and face off my mind. He is the perfect gentleman and everything about him talked straight in my mind and heart.
Next day came and he picked me up again from the same place and we drove out to a cafeteria for a nice afternoon coffee. It was a lovely September afternoon and we talked for some time. A strong sentiment developed during this, mostly because he was a very sweet, gentle and sincere man. He told me on that day that he has been separated from his wife and many more things about himself and his family. He showed a strong affection towards me from that day on and it took only a few days to realize that we were falling in love with each other. While I was off from work and at home with my parents he would always call me to see how I am and I always looked forward to these calls.

In the evenings at work when my shift started, he always waited for me near the staff entrance to greet me, and during the shift we always took the opportunity to see each other and sometimes to say a shy “Hello” and later on an “I love you”




In May 2012 unknown to us at that time I got pregnant. We were trying to conceive since mid-2010 because we both love babies and this is also a great wish of mine to have a baby from the man that I love very much! During our vacation in the last week of July 2012, I had continues vomiting symptoms and we thought it was a sun stroke that I suffered from being exposed to hot weather in the sea. After the symptoms got worse Athanasios drove me to a hospital emergency in Thessaloniki Greece where the doctors informed us that I was on my 11th week of pregnancy. We were exhilarated and we immediately passed the news to our families. It was one of the happiest times of our lives. Athanasios daughter Elena-Zoe his sister, nephews my sisters, my parents and our colleagues were very happy for us and we made plans to have our baby and wished for a little girl. Unfortunately two weeks later on August 13th 2012 I suffered a miscarriage and was taken to the same hospital where the doctors treated me and informed me that my pregnancy was terminated. In about six months though we can try again.

Almost 5 years have passed from then. Our love is stronger than ever! And finaly... Now Spaska is pregnant again (2 months into). Unluckily for us we did not know this until 3 weeks ago as if we knew we would try to postpone the medical X-rays and all!

That is truly a lovely story messenger. Was this the relationship essay you submitted to CIC? I'm sure they'd love it, especially that you always wanted to have a baby and have a happy family.

Great stories everyone!!! It is always nice to have a background on people, not only where they are from but how they came to go through this agonizing procss. It all boils down to LOVE.

As for the Toronto gathering, I wwill be settling just outside of Toronto so we can always grab a Go Train and head on into the city.

And vain as it is, to all those "friends" who were "so supportive" **voice dripping with sarcasm lol** of our relationship, look at us now!! You are still stuck in a tiny town you've never left, all alone. And im an international traveller, who found the man of her dreams. Just shows it pays off to take a chance on love

Yes it is part of our essay! Only a part of 7 pages. My spouse is having all preg symptoms and right now is on doctor's leave and is a very hard period for her and for me seeing her suffering so much and not been able to help her!
Nausea, (the works) , heartburns, fatigue, stomach aches, emotional...the works and the only thing I can do is hold her hand for comfort!
She was happy though to share our story with you and I get to read your stories to her!

Yes a baby girl is what we both like but then a healthy child of any gender is what we pray!

I love your story and I especially love this last part. I'm 26 and two years ago when I left Canada to be with my boyfriend here in Paris there were people who thought I was crazy for doing it and didn't think I should, even though things didn't happen quite as fast as they did for you.

Anyways, I think people are so jaded nowdays it's really sad. I mean I know that dovorce rates are at an all time high and all that, but what can I say... I'm a hopless romantic and I believe in life long love ;D And all you guys and your stories PROVE ME RIGHT!!!

Added to text: Iay, We are here in Europe! unfortunately we spend our days either here in Greece or in her country. Her village is right at the Greek border and the distance from our home to her parents is 78km. Now she is on doctors leave and she is here with me. Other days I drive us to her country so she doesn't have any issues with Greek border officers
This has been our life since February 2009 when we decided to live together!
Sometimes people do not keep other people apart. Countries do!
Our Golgotha will soon be over!
