I came to Canada to study (with my ex-wife) in August 2010. We got married to fast and to young, before we knew what we wanted with our lives, and the last 2 years we where more friends then in a relationship. After about 2 months in Canada we decided to end our marriage and we separated (divorce took almost 10 months to do). I started to look for new friends to get to know, and Vancouver is a difficult city for that, so I started to look around on internet and signed up for a dating site (to get to know new people).
There I started to talk with my wife and we met after 2 weeks and we connected right away, we want the same things out of life and value the same things. Our first date was in January 2011 and by the middle of march I moved in with her and her daughter. I asked her to marry me in July 2011 and we got married last August. Somewhere in between there her daughter started to call me dad and we are now our own little family.
Our wedding was amazing (tears and smiles all around, which the VO soon will see ), it was on the hottest day last summer and everyone was melting away (so happy it wasn't a tuxedo/suit and tie wedding), we had around 40 guests, including my Mother who flew here for it from Sweden to meet the new family, and of course her new grand daughter.
Now I have 1 month left of studies and can finally soon start working (if I get the post grad work permit), then it's just the waiting game.

I read about the big app's people sent in. Ours were about 1 kilo I think, around 170 pages of support, mostly screenshots from my iphone of text's and facebook messages (many shopping lists and reminders of the kids after school activities and such, we must seem like such an exciting couple) from when our relationship started (focused on early correspondence and just a few here and there from 2012 to show it was still going) and photos from different occasions and wedding

IAY congrats on the SA!!!!!! and I agree with everyone else, your poem is beautifull

My boyfriend and I met in Montreal in april 2010 when I took on a second job as a waitress in the restaurant where he worked while on a work permit. I don't want to say that it was love at first sight because I'm not sure I believe in it but when he introduced himself my, heart, mind everything said "WOW!!!!" ... and my eyes did this lol .... Within 2 weeks we were dating, and we were together littleraly 7 days a week since we worked together and had the same days off. So we've been extremely lucky in that respect . In Jan 2011 he had to leave coz his work permit was expired and due to procrastination among other things he never renewed it in time. He went back to Paris and in April of 2011 I moved here to be with him and he proposed a month later. After I saw him littleraly everyday for almost a year it was excruciating not to have him around so I had no choice but to come here and we've been living together ever since.
We've been extremely lucky because due to my double nationality I was able to come here without a visa so we didn't need to be apart for long.

I would just like to say how I admire those of you who have been apart from your loved ones for so long. honestly my hat goes off to all of you. We were only apart for 4 moths and it was hell, so I can't imagine how it must be for those of you for whom it has been years
I just hope that everyone is reunited as soon as possible!!!!!! ;D

For me, our story isn't nearly as romantic or adventurous as some of yours but here it is...

We were introduced over 3 years ago by my friend who is here in Canada with me, while he was in Cairo, Egypt.
We started talking on the phone and we totally hit it off! We talked nonstop for the longest time... literally (24/7 would be an understatement)!!

And we got engaged back in March 2010 (3 yrs now ) and got married last year July.

We only met twice during our whole relationship, its hard being apart for so long, but man...do I love him!

And finally.. here we are, finally in the process of doing this immigration ...but at least I feel like its one step closer to our new life together in Canada!

All I can say is, don't lose hope guys!! I know we can get through this, but all we can just do is wait patiently.

I second this! This is a very momentous time in our lives, and it is nice to have the support. Love the stories too, I find it all so interesting!!

Okay, I was home sick with a stomach virus yesterday.....no fun......and I am just now catching up here.

Congrats to all the new people who have jooined the board. Welcome to the waiting game!!

As for how my wife and I met, it was online. We met through a game online and became best of friends. After 14 months of being "just friends" we decided to meet up in Niagara Falls for a long weekend. We met and it was an instant connection. The rest is history. We went back to Niagara Falls for our one year anniversary of meeting in November 2011 and then we went again in November 2012 and got married in a little chapel there. It was just her and I and the chaplain. We had invited her family but on short notice to come from Alberta was too expensive. We had a couple of friends who were coming to witness but one ended up sick with the flu so it was just her and I. We plan to do a more formal ceremony after I get up there and settled in. We are making moving to be with each other our priority.

Not a glamourous story but how it happened. lol
