Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I totally agree with this. It's also easier for me to take care of my parents if they are here, rather than sending money home. That way my income stays within Canada, helping the economy at the same time. Also, my parents are in their early 50s, and plan on working into their 70s (hopefully...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Yay! My available credit has gone down by $1,250! I've never been so happy to have my card charged! It doesn't show yet as a a transaction from CIC but I haven't made any large transactions lately. I used MM Courier.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Just found out that I can't set up transaction alerts ion my BMO mastercard. Too bad. I guess I'll just check my statement daily for the next few weeks. Sigh.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I'm not concerned so much about elderly parents and burden on tax payers, since we are obligated to take care of our parents for 20 years once they are here. I'm more concerned about CIC's capacity to process the applications if they just accepted every application. That's what led to the huge...

Thanks for this information! It is very much appreciated. I guess going forward, local couriers are the best guarantee.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Metro Mississauga just emailed me about an update on their site. They have confirmed that they were in the top three in the line up: "UPDATE : Sponsorship Delivery : All Applications were dropped before 8:45 AM January 4, 2016. Line Position : Within top 3 Our Start in line 10:00 AM January...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

This is interesting. But if they were still planning on doubling the cap, why would they bother updating their website to 5,000 this morning? They could have just left it the way it was (i.e. "there is a cap"), and then update it when they were sure. So much confusion in the system!

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I totally agree with this. I would love to see stats showing the location of applicants who made it into the caps over the last few years. I'm betting 90% is ON applicants. Not fair at all. It really should be allocated provincially.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

The process really is unfair. But you are able to send your application through local courier even if you are not in the GTA. I live in Victoria, BC so I knew my app definitely would not make it there before 9am, so I mailed my app in advance to a local courier who delivered it for me. It ended...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Wow, that's crazy. Based on what you say, I have the feeling that the 5,000 cap was met by 9am. The government really needs to think of a new process. This is not working at all.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Thanks for the advice. I will stick with a local courier because I've had things delayed in the past, especially living on an island where you can't really guarantee when stuff will be shipped due to weather issues. Good luck with your application.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I'm aware that most people used Purolator, but like I said in my previous post, I live in Victoria BC. There is no way I'm trusting a large company to deliver it before 9am from Victoria. If I lived in Toronto then I would take my chances with them.

Yes, I'll definitely keep you updated! I'm really hoping they don't mess things up but they do seem competent!

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I'm going with Metro Mississauga as well. I spoke to them and they sound competent. I've already sent my package to them, so fingers crossed. I definitely couldn't go with Canada Post or Fedex because I live in Victoria, BC so it definitely would not make it in time.

    Online Application: 3 Day Processing????

Hi, I know this question is asked a lot, but is it possible to have your TRV refused after getting a passport request? The reason I am asking is because we applied online for a TRV for my brother on Sept 25 and on Sept 28 we got a passport request which says a decision has been made. It seems...
