I am done with this process. It doesn't make sense how some applications using local couriers can get through while others submitting from other cities get stuck or have to rely on couriers to make it on time in a time window which each year will become more and more tight. We should all write to our MPs to make this system fair and equal for those who lived outside GTA. I will suggest a window of a full month to apply and then a lottery system to select the valid applications.

The process really is unfair. But you are able to send your application through local courier even if you are not in the GTA. I live in Victoria, BC so I knew my app definitely would not make it there before 9am, so I mailed my app in advance to a local courier who delivered it for me. It ended up being quite pricey ($20 for express post to the courier, and $85 for the courier fees).

you should suggest them to increase the intake.. thats the root cause. trying to fit any system with such a small cap will inevitably fail.

I feel like when it comes to family sponsorship, Canada is really a nightmare. If nobody in CIC department has the guts and the knowledge to challenge this, the nightmare will go on year after year. Other countries such as US or Australia have strict requirements for parents too but the total wait time (around 1 year for US) and the procedure isn’t this much mentally torturing compared to Canada. This shouldn’t be the case for a first world country. Minister McCallum is busy making him look nice and generous to Syrian refugees, many of them not even interested in coming here yet right at home in Canada, tens of thousands of families suffer from the immigration system that lacks transparency and reasonable quota division and administration. I can’t believe nobody at the Minister Office cares enough to find a concrete solution. ???

Totally agree.

It's very unfair that based on this system that specifically people from Ontario who knew about and used Happy Road Express, mostly Chinese I expect, got in first.

While at the same time, people from Alberta might not make it at all because of slow delivery.

Same for me... You in Calgary? I am. I think this 9:57 AM was just a bulk email.. the applications would have been received earlier.. they just updated it all at once.

hmm..yes i am in calgary

The 5000 Cap should be equally divided per province or per population per province. First come per serve basis.

I totally agree with this. I would love to see stats showing the location of applicants who made it into the caps over the last few years. I'm betting 90% is ON applicants. Not fair at all. It really should be allocated provincially.

If I will not make it again this year due to delivery time problem I would write to our MP. This is ridiculous.

OR

I will ask our company to send me to our Mississauga Branch at this time next year so I could pick a local courier.

Better if CIC will based it on population per province and should be received per local CIC office.

Province Population Per Province Number Application Per Province
Nunavut 36,687 6
Alberta 4,145,992 582
Saskatchewan 1,129,899 159
Yukon 36,758 6
Ontario 13,730,187 1925
Manitoba 1,286,323 181
British Columbia 4,657,947 653
Northwest Territories 43,795 7
Prince Edward Island 146,524 21
Quebec 8,236,310 1155
Nova Scotia 943,932 133
Newfoundldand Labrador 526,837 74
New Brunswick 754,643 106

Yeah the only problem is US has the lottery system and some people are stranded for 10 years without a luck. I don't know if thats an ideal answer. I do agree that we should write to our MP's. We should all question why the quota was not doubled as per Liberals promises. That was the basis of Justin Trudeau's campaign. He said he was going to make family reunification easier. This is not easier?! I have absolutely nothing against refugees, but if the government has resources to accept 25K refugees and give them PR when they land than they definitely have resources to take more than 5K applications a year and even so make the process a little faster. My parents are still relatively young. They can come to this country at this time and perhaps still be able to contribute to the economy and help with childcare. We are all in a very tough spot and want to be with our families. I want to further my education and go do masters but I can't cause I have to maintain a certain income until their file is in process atleast and that could take up to 10 years. I request everyone even if they get accepted to the cap, please write to your MP's and raise your concerns on how this process needs to get better.

and the processing times site has also changed, but now it just says 'Working on applications received on or before November 4, 2011'

but this doesnt give a full timeline, and there is no way of checking local visa offices??

Mine just says in transit and nothing else.

I again called Purolator and ask them where is my app..is it in Edmonton or is it in Mississauga?? he told me the same old story that delivery drivers scanner broke down and he had 700 applications. he was in line before 9am so your package might have been delivered but it wont update now but may be later. But I highly doubt this bcoz no one is saying it 100% as to what happened to the shipment and where is it exactly.
