At the time of Passport request, One can send the passport to Ottawa and have the PR visa issued. Landing can be done at the US border. If she is still here when the PR comes, I think we will just have the visa stamped at Ottawa and drive to a land border for landing.

TRV will be cancelled when PR is issued and you have landed as an immigrant. It will not be cancelled before you land. Might get expired though (not cancelled), which is a whole another story, and has nothing to do with PR.
