Previously gave up PR because of inability to maintain residency requirements. Applied for TRV and was given one. Next year's plan is to apply for PR again (wife and sons are Canadian).
Am I correct in assuming that TRV will be cancelled before spouse visa will be issued? Just curious.

I don't get this. Your TRV would be cancelled before TRV is issued? WHat do you mean by "spouse visa"?

When you become a PR all your temporary resident papers will be void.

TRV will be cancelled when PR is issued and you have landed as an immigrant. It will not be cancelled before you land.

Might get expired though (not cancelled), which is a whole another story, and has nothing to do with PR.
