US citizen hassled at Emerson border crossing and ended up with tourist visa

That is not likely to be a visa, more likely just a leave by date. Yes I know it is unusual for an American to get a stamp in their passport. Did they issue you with a Visitor record document? If you want to explain what the IO got so heated about maybe we can offer some insight.

    Traumatizing Experience!!

Just so you know a Visitor Record looks like, it says "Visitor Record" at the top and spells out all the conditions and terms of your stay, it also specifies an expiration date. Here is a sanitized scan of a Visitor record.

Possible to apply for TRV if from visa exempt country?

I am from the UK, I always buy a return ticket, but I make sure I can change or cancel it. That way I don't have to worry about the IO asking why I don't have a return ticket :) Getting an entry stamp with no fixed return date is usual (personal experience). Without a specified date, it means...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Well the boring answer is :- As you know if you leave Canada and are not allowed to return, then your PR application is dead. I have the same opportunity (a Vegas trip), the difference is that I am applying outland - but even though I am allowed to travel I won't take the chance. Is the trip...

    Re-entering Canada

Well you could try just explaining, but a return flight would be a very good idea. Every time I fly to Canada (quite a lot) I always book a return, like you I am also visa exempt. You have to remember that entry to Canada is not a right, even with a return I have had secondary interviews that...

    Re-entering Canada

Do you want to enter as a visitor or by some other means ? A one way ticket is not a good idea, immigration want to see ties to your home country and you have to convince them that you will leave when you are meant to.

Travelling to US? Pay $50 for 2nd Baggage

Not if you are ticketed through to your final destination. You would normally pay for the extra bag(s) as you check in, not at a transit location.

When did you pay for PR? & visa extension request

I will use online payment for my PR application and the visa extension. I did that on my previous visa extension request, it is easy. Multiple copies of the receipt are no problem, I use an Apple Mac - I "print" the receipt to a PDF file and then print as many paper copies as I need.

SHAM MARRIAGES..ARRESTS AT WEDDINGS IN THE UK

I believe that in Quebec the details of the wedding have to be posted for at least 20 days. I guess that the high profile action of disrupting a wedding is so that more people will notice the intervention. Let's face it, the rules about sham marriages are already stated in plenty of places. But...
