Starting off this thread to have ideas to keep calm during this stressful application process. We get stressed during various stages and due to frustration sometimes have disputes with our partners. Lets share the ideas how you pass on this stressful period and keep your calm

Oh I like this post! Yes, we have been so frustrated. My partner and I very rarely argue but have had more disagreements and arguements in the past 3 months than ever before. It is all because of stress and frustration boiling over so I can definitely relate.

I think it is good to try and step away from it all when it becomes too much and go and do something fun, just to get your mind off things and relax! I look forward to hearing what others suggest!

Do you think CIC make it so difficult and ambiguous to sort out the people who really want it from those who can't be bothered?!?! :D

They must - if you can get through all of these forms, background details etc etc and stay together - you deserve residency!!

I kinda went off yoga months ago but in the last two months have been going at least 4 times a week - an hour and a half in a smoking hot room and no need to think forms.....bliss!

I think they prolong it too , to see how strong the relationship is , 2 years seem to be the correct timeline for Spousal applications, yet again, Ive seen some applications on here that have only been 7-8 month ...bizzare !!

I believe many of us become very stressed at the time period and need to find a hobby to take our minds off it , I live way out in the Country and have limited access to gyms etc...although I used to be a Maui Thai Kick boxer so I know how to channel my anger , I just go out side and knock ten bells out of my punch bag lol then feel much better lol ..then when that passes I'm back on E-CAS checking the process and still nothing changes ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG lol , all I can say is Im glad we have each other here as it helps with the frustration, some cases are worse than others and I guess mine is up there ...security clearence takes a lifetime lol ...

hubby and i are very different, i want to know everything...research and plan for everything while he is laid back and prefers to just wait it out. sometimes that's where the misunderstanding starts. i try to stay away from e-cas and this forum from time to time because although i'm happy for those who have PR visas already, i also feel somewhat jealous - they can finally move on with their lives.

application process is very stressful, and I don't like the lack of feedback from CIC. sometimes I feel like our application is so confidential that we ourselves don't have the right to know anything aobut it.

i play plants vs. zombies LOL :) and my daughter and i get out of the house to play and go places, away from the computer :)

Well, if you are in a tropical climate like I am right now. Gardening works. It doesn't matter how successful the gardening is but it relieves a lot of stress.

I love planting flowers which don't always come out the way I want them but ..... they grow and look reasonable... LOL

One other thing I do is take Spanish classes. Since I got back from Canada waiting out the remainder of my CIC application processing I have been taking Spanish two days a week for 1.5 hours each day. It's not that bad because I am learning a different language and my goal is to use the year I have been away from Canada as time off from my studies for one of those "Exchange" programs (it really isn't) on my resume and for jobs or post graduate applications.

Saludos!

oh i'm into gardening as well..but i've abandoned it for now since it's typhoon season here in the philippines and the strong wind just ruins everything.

how about learning French? will being bilingual (French/English) give me more job opportunities? or does that only apply to Quebec?

Online games for me!!
And when my husband is home we play more games, he likes First Person Shooters (i.e. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.), I never liked them but now I'm starting to because of him hee hee :) I kind of "lead" him, he does the killing!

But I totally agree this process is long only to stress couples out.. it's so sad that there's so much stress between us being relatively newlyweds.. :(

The hubby and I have been arguing too, thanks to stress over the past few months, and we only just sent my application in! We got confirmation that it had been successfully delivered the same day I had to go to the Border and back (How's THAT for Irony?!)

But to relieve stress, I have a good support system of friends here that let me vent and let off steam to them, and often they'll call me and say 'lets go for coffee and a chat' and I'm so so grateful for that, plus it gets me out of the apartment for a while too.

French works well but man, I just suck at learning that language. There is something with me and trying to learn French. I like the language, culture and foods but when it comes to speaking I am always at loss.

I hope that one day my Spanish comes in good use for me.

I garden at anytime of the year. We are in South America, on the North Coast, place called Guyana. Weather is hype all year round. Nothing is sure in this climate. Most days hot, hot, scorching sun, minimal days of cool, rainy weather. I love marigolds and each time it rains, my wonderful big sunshine flowers break and the plants lean toward the ground :(

Hmm, maybe a meet-up group should be started for those waiting in Canada.
