From what you have said, you applied to extend at least 30 days before you were due to leave. Did you apply online or by post? If by post, did you get proof of delivery? Yes, you have implied status. Processing at the moment is 87 days. The general information is here - but you will have read...

proving intent to return to home country

I think boarding passes are about the only easy way to prove "exit" from Canada, but like you said difficult to organise. Of course the other issue with travel and PR applications is the CIC request for you to provide details of all your travel over the last ten years. I travel a lot, and...

proving intent to return to home country

Of course there is the issue of - how does Canada know you have actually left the country? When I leave to go to the UK, there will be no physical check of my details, but I hope that someone at the airline will send the details to confirm I have left..... or do they?

proving intent to return to home country

I don't want to sound negative, but I think we all know that the current system is geared towards discretionary judgements. Expecting CIC or the government to relinquish this "tool" is not that likely. That said, the bond idea does initially sound good, however, doesn't that discriminate on...

Application fee & the Right of PR fee

Personally, I would put the application together without an immigration consultant. Some people have a complex situation to describe, in that case maybe it is better to use an immigration lawyer. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/notice-fraud.asp

Can I send police certificate later?

I understand that for outland spousal PR, you do the police check before the application and the certificate (check) should be included with your application.

@ comingtocanada - General information - In my case it took 55 days to get an extension approved. I got the three months that I asked for. Well, that was the gap between the arrival of my documents at Vegreville and the start date on my new VR. The letter containing the VR took about another...

Federal officials have quoted a questionable source in bids to kick foreigners out of Canada – Wikipedia. And judges are not amused. An interesting read. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/judges-rap-wiki-evidence-in-immigration-cases/article1542565/
