I am from the US, so maybe my perspective on education is different. It seems reasonable that residents of many places might reasonably say that two or more places are among the best places. I have never applied for an education visa, so take it with salt.

Depending on where you live, it is easy enough to pop across the border once a month for banking (or less often to deposit money) and then make payment online/phone. Depending on future goals, keeping the US CC active might be a good idea.

Just be aware that the multiple entry PRTD doesn't have to be issued. There was a poster a few months back who noted they had requested it, for seemingly valid reasons, but only received a single entry.

There are ways for a DACA to depart the country and be allowed to return (Advance Parole). It isn't perfect, but there is potential for your partner to travel to Canada and return to US if they could come up with a valid reason.
