As I said, once you move and establish a life here, it is a different story. I lived here for 4 years only but I feel attached to Canada the same way I felt attached to the country I lived in for 10 years before moving here (though it was not my country of birth or citizenship, either). However, if at any point of time I can't find a decent job in Canada (I hold a PhD so I won't take cap driver as a decent job, with all due respect to cap drivers) I have no problem moving to another country and establish a new life there. I won't let emotional attachments get in the way to the well-being of my family.

I think you meant "Cab Drivers" as opposed to "Cap drivers".

I will never vote conservative. This has nothing to do with their immigration policy. I consider myself a libertarian so it's not about their economic policy either. I just don't like their cultural supremacy mindset.

A libertarian belief are very similar to conservative policies of small and less intrusive government valuing individual choices. I guess you are an exception to the rule.

simply put ..
Libertarian = conservative in economic issues + liberal in social issues.
I said that I'm supportive of the conservative's economic policies but I don't like their stance on social issues.

Yes, we call them taxis not cabs, so I misspelled it.

Yes. Twice in a row. Just don't what others to think that you can't spell because you have a PhD.

Believe it or not, even PhD holders make spelling mistakes sometimes :) (In fact they do a lot of mistakes as I found by reviewing research papers)
Reminded me of a joke:
1: I've visited France recently and discovered that French people are genius !
2: How is that?
1: Even a 3 years old kid can speak French fluently !!

Got the point?

Good joke. :)

A question for immigrants who vote conservatives: what is the point of escaping from a shithole into a civilized country and turning it into the shithole you escaped from?

Wide income gap, disinterest in societal well-being, no appreciation for culture, one's own disposable income above anything, distrust in everybody...the description of a third world country to me.

Now we have conservative party in power in Canada, do you mean now Canada is like 3rd world country?

Actually for me this is a great description of US.

and canada as well.

My housemate works for Air Canada and her colleague comes over every now and then to gossip about their colleagues and their future moves at work.

Exceptionally, people work so hard, gain knowledge and move up the ladder. These people usually are doctors, engineers, and teachers, scientists etc.The rest is garbage.( this statement excludes people who work in labour like cleaners and construction workers)

Unfortunately the observations which I have by comparing US and Canada, little by little Canada is looking more and more like US.

All over the world, ethnic, religious and cultural minorities don't vote conservative. In the US Afro-American and Hispanic vote for the Democrats, in India Sikh and Muslims vote for the INC, in Egypt Christian Copts vote for the Liberals, and so on. This is very natural. Conservatives usually stand for the dominant racial, ethnic or religious group. That's why most immigrants (or at least those coming from outside Europe and North America) tend to vote liberal or NDP but not conseravtive.
