Thats the problem with this country, no one is embarrassed enough to say what is occurring is wrong. Everyone's in either denial or delusion that everything are good and dandy.

No great nation every came forward without owning up to its blunders and mistakes.

I couldn’t agree more...

Hello,

Let's keep our hopes up because remember that it only took 3 days for the CON to pass bill C-24 once it got to the SENATE. First reading started was on June 16 of last year and got the Royal Assent on the 19th.

Crossing my fingers and toes.
Cheers !

I didn't check if that was so, but that might have happened because it was CONs in houses of commons and CONs in senate as majority. This bill has Lib sponsors, and with terrorist clause, Senate 'non-political' CON senators will show their true political colors.

This bill won't pass. That's a fact with current Senate's political situation.

It's so weird that people have been blaming the Senate when the Bill hasn't even GONE THERE YET.
Parliament has been discussing it since February. Parliament. The one where Liberals have majority.

Some perspective people.

vote was discussed today for 2,5 hours. nobody knows when discussion will resume. still in the House of Commons.

Hi everyone,

I just went through the entire transcript of the discussion on C-6 which took place yesterday. It is available at this link:
http://www.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Pub=Hansard&Doc=74&Parl=42&Ses=1&Language=E&Mode=1

You may recall Mr. Borys Wrzesnewskyj (Etobicoke Centre, Lib.). He is the Chair of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM). You know, the House Committee which held meetings on C-6.

Well, MP Wrzesnewskyj during his time on Bill C-6 during the debates yesterday, also made the following comments which sort of implied that something would be done by Canada Day 2016 - That's 01 July 2016, barely two weeks away. Any thoughts on what he meant?

This is what he actually said:
Our government, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration worked hard and diligently on this legislation. It is with pride that, this upcoming Canada Day, we will be able to declare that our Prime Minister and our government have fulfilled their commitment and under the current government, once again, in Canada, a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.

And then again:
Therefore, people were extremely happy that under a Liberal government we delivered on our commitment. It will be a proud moment this Canada Day when in Etobicoke Centre we once again swear in new Canadian citizens and we can say, “Welcome. In Canada a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian”.

We are all (more or less) awaiting C-6's coming into effect. But look at the bright side people - we are waiting in what is probably the most welcoming country in the world.

Cheers, and chill people

Anyone knows yesterday they voted or not?

Seems, the opposition Bill C-6 is having in the HoC by CONS, it is likely to be turn down in the senate. and liberal could be well aware of it as well. From HoC, it will be passed sooner or later to have liberals face saving of their promises in election compaign. ::)

Simple, Liberals don't have enough power to run this country alone.

My dear, Truduea can easily fill 19 vacant senate seats and go to majority. He is just being decent on his Senate reform promise he did in elections. Don't underestimate his capacity due to decency(which CONs never had).

Does anyone know if there will be any progress on this Bill before July 1 ? I really doubt it would pass all 3 stages by then... but can i still have some faith in having this bill pass before x-mas ?
PS: will only take in consideration positive replies. thank in advance :)
