Hey everyone, good to see some more feedback coming through on our applications. I'm updating the charts about once a week I hope that's ok. I'm away this weekend so I'll have to wait a couple more days til I'm back home where the codes are. Cheers
You are doing a great job updating the chart. We do appreciate it. Hope you have enjoyed a good weekend away.

At around the 30-day mark, since they received it. Please give it a month or so.

We received the letter today, dated Dec. 14, 2010, approving my partner as the sponsor. :D

So this came one day earlier than I expected it.

It says the application has been forwarded to the visa office in Buffalo.

Apparently, I forgot to sign on one page on the additional family information (I just signed at the bottom, but not under section b to state I have no children), so I have to sign that and send it to Buffalo. They didn't mention anything about my name on the back of the photo, so maybe it I did do it or someone else will write it in.

Congrats Tree Lover! I told you not to worry! :D

Just wanted to know if anyone knew the answer to this question - or do I have to go to September or Octobers forum to find the answer: After Mississauga approves the sponser and they ship the second half of the applications (mines went to Buffalo) how soon are we notified that Buffalo has our application? Or if they're currently working on it?

You may want to check out the tables in the September and October threads to get a better idea. Speaking purely from my own experience, it took them almost exactly 5 weeks to even update my eCAS to show that my file had been opened and began processing the week before (i.e. began processing almost exactly 1 month after sponsorship approval). And I received my AOR the very same day that eCAS was updated.

However, one of the other Buffalo applicants, who had sponsorship approved only 5 days before me, got her eCAS update almost exactly 3 weeks after sponsorship was approved, and the update said her file had begun processing the week before that (so, 2 weeks after sponsorship approval).

So really, it's anyone's guess. I'd say expect to hear something within a month or so of your file being transferred to Buffalo, and if you hear something sooner--consider it a bonus :).

It's frustrating I know vvargas, I'm sorry you haven't had news as yet, because at least that would provide reassurance. Try not to compare to others - who knows exactly how they prioritise our applications at the centre... didn't they say on their website it was more than 30 days average time processing the sponsorship stage? It shouldn't take much longer now. I understand, a few extra days waiting seems like a lifetime, but in the big scheme of things it is just a small (but significant) wait. Keep in mind you will get there, soon. I think one of the best christmas gift we could have is being able to sit patiently despite something that is challenging us - if we can master this then life would be so much easier in general!

I know it's hard to wait and I know it's hard to believe this from someone who has already received their approval but if you are doing it outland and the sponsor is not living in Canada then from personal experience I highly recommend getting an unpaid representative (family member or good friend who is really reliable). The speed with which things were done when I didn't have my Dad as rep and after is huge. He lives in Quebec so the mail between Mississauga and him is quick, he's able to talk to the officer dealing with my application (she called him!!!) and with any problems he's able to contact me and I can reply him and get the answer back to CIC quickly so my file barely as time to go lukewarm before they continue on. It also saves money as I mail my Dad my papers and then he mails it to them and then anything else he gets a hold of me and then gets the stuff to them. On top of that with some foreign mail services some mail addresses are not accepted by their system (like China where I am) and having to explain/fight with them to mail it is a huge hassle (ex. having to translate addresses into Chinese characters- OH, COME ON!!!!)

VVargas, I know it's hard to be patient in this process. If you are in Canada you can call the centre to find out if they started working on your file. I called them this morning unfortunately, nothing yet for me.
The lady told me they will be closed on the 28th, 29th of Dec and 3rd of January so me i'm not expecting anything until after the holidays.
Give them a call to find out.

Hey guys, my sponsor got the letter from CIC today. We're approved. The application has been forwarded to Buffalo. I'm not expecting AOR/InProcessing until sometime mid-late January, but who knows.

Those of you who have not gotten Decision Made yet, hold tight. The CIC site says to allow for roughly 36-39 days I believe, so though many people are getting it less than 30 days, you're still within their timeline. If it hits day 40-45, perhaps you can call to inquire, I'm not sure how long they expect you to wait, beyond their estimated decision making window.

vvargus, I don't think that anyone with the same date as you, 11/19, has received approval yet. At least they haven't posted it. It may be slowing down because of the holidays too. Or they could have a lot of applications received on 11/18 and 11/19 so it's taking a bit longer.....so you shouldn't worry! I also was worrying about mine until e-cas started working last week. It's hard not to.

Our file was received on the 19th too, and we've still not heard anything yet. I'm thinking if it's not today or tomorrow, I won't hear anything until mid-January.
