hi sa mga nasa Canada na,
kararating ko lang sa Vancouver last Monday.
Sa mga nauna na, saan kaya ako puede maghanap ng jobs? Feeling ko kasi baka di nila e hire ang Pinoy dahil marami naman ding mga puti na naghahanap din ng job. Pero may 3 years experience din naman ako sa sales at 6 years experience sa customer service sa Pinas.

Any advice please?

Depends on what kind of job you are looking for, but in terms of professional jobs (Engineers, Accounting, Office Administrators, Business Admin, IT, Nurse, Nurses Aide etc) they usually want to see Canadian education/experience. There are many short term professional programs available if you want to upgrade.

For non-professional, labor or odd jobs, they don't care about Canadian education so much.

Sis, eto opinion ko lang ha. Take it with a grain of salt. I came to Calgary in 1996. When it comes to a career or professional jobs, they don't care so much about your race. They look at your Canadian education and/or experience. Although there are cases when they hire no Canadian experience, it is very rare. I hate to say it but the best way to become a professional in Canada is to acquire canadian education or upgrade.

Some of our bro/sis in this forum are from Vancouver. I think Iay is. Let's see what they say.

thanks sis deshax sa info...i mean, i dont care kung anong jobs yung makuha ko for a start...basta lang magkakaroon ako ng experience...kahit customer service sa mall or fastfood, or waiter sa restaurant or kahit ano...mahirap kaya yun sis? i have heard news din na gusto nila ang Pinoy dahil masipag din. di pa lang nga ako naka pagstart na mag apply...salamat sis.

Kung malls, fastfoods at restaurants....should be easy bro! Just do the old fashioned way! Go to Tim Hortons, McDo, Wendy's or the mall and ask for a Job Application Form. That's how I got my first job back in 1996! Tama yan bro, just work at any job for now! Canadians are very diverse in culture and ethnic race. They are very open minded in terms of other cultures so don't worry about not getting hired. As long as you show confidence in yourself, they will hire you! Pray and God bless you and your family! Enjoy the new life.

Yes and also now might be a good time to get to know the English speakers around the forum! It's never too late.. you never know who might meet that can help you get started. I'm not trying to echo gortandmugs here, but for the others waiting, it's really in your own interest to branch out and meet all the other people on the other threads, especially when you might be job hunting later. We have a lot of BC people around.. I'm in Victoria, Iay is in Vancouver.. BC Guy is somewhere on the Manland I think.. Dan from Surrey, I guess he's from Surrey.. that's close to you. Just like in the Philippines, you will most likely find a job based on who you know not what you know. So, all you potential job hunters get out there and start being what you're so famous for - being friendly ;D Introduce yourself in the thread for your application month ;D

However there's no substitute for making connections with people and pounding the pavement with your resume.

Thanks Doljan :-[ By the way, we got an "In Process" yesterday, dated for Monday so I guess that means they got the passport and cracked open our app. If there's any other meaning to an "In-Process" as it relates to approval or possible interview I would like to hear any theories! For example, those that had interviews - did they get "in process" after? Or Before?

hello everyone.... well here I am at 181 days as of Monday....it looks like we are not going to be able to be together our 1st yr ann together... May 7/12...when we applied it was 9 months.... but who knows when....no person should be apart on their first ann apart unless its the military... the only thing I can,t understand is the CEM says they process our applications as they come in ... then why are people getting PPR after alot of us .... and if we pay in advance it will save 2 months... how do they know that until the CEM opens the application....unless Mississauga stamps PAID!!!! but I doubt that.... anyways I want to know that anyone out there that got a PPR...do I get a cc. copy also to my email address also.... I check so many times a day since I think we are so close.... all the best to people that are at 180 days !!!! what a life to live.... gortandmugs....

not yet I think we are good the only thing i,m worried about is our med expire aug so they have alot of time to play with us.... I bet it is open but going to relay on the way it says just assume its there But Steph I wish I could tell Revenue Canada the same thing just assume i paid my taxes....but anyways it should be soon!!!!
