Hi! Anyone here has changed their lastname before getting PR? Here's my scenario...I am currently with open work permit. I got married last year and got new philippine passport with my new name. I am now carrying my husband's last name then my last name as my middle name. When I went to change my DL here in Canada they did not follow my passport name as they ca only change my last name. So now, I asked them to return it back and I will come back as soon as I get my new name with CIC. Now, I got my PR approval under spousal sponsorship; however, all emails from CIC still states my old name. I already emailed them several times but it seems they just ignoring me. I am now schedule for spousal interview this April 30 and I am worried that they will put my old name in my PR card and COPR.
Can anyone share their experience if you were on the same boat with me? Thanks in advance

Meron po ba dito recently lang na approve ng SOWP? Hindi na po ba need ng POLO/PDOS/OEC? Or ano po kadalasan tanung at hanapin or sabihin na sowp sa immigration during departure? Pasensya na 1st time ko kasi lalabas ng pinas at ako pa mag.isa..thank you po sa makakatulong. God bless

have a boyfriend for 4 years now that lives in another country and we’re planning to get married this year. What is the best way to do it? He has a visitor visa valid until 2024. Is it best for him to come and get married here then apply for a inland sponsorship? Or I should go home in the Philippines, get married, come back to Canada then start outland sponsorship

Hello forum members and future Canucks

I'm a Canadian by birth and sponsoring my Filipino partner under the "common-law partner program" Canadian living abroad PR. We have a child that was born in the PH and already has her Canadian Proof of Citizenship. I haven't use any agents to fill out all my applications, I did everything myself. I heard some of my Canadian counterparts are paying almost 3,000.00 CAD to prepare and submit all documents, this is something we could easily do and save a lot of money. If you will go this path, make sure you read and re-read all information and make sure to read the guides (IMM 5289) - (IMM 5525) very carefully, even reading it 2-3 times. I started working on it in February and finally sent everything on February 06th and received in Sydney, NS on the 15th of February. I will try not to get ahead of myself and will take it a day at a time, this could be a long and stressful process. Good luck to all.

You should renew it, my partner who is a Filipina also renewed her passport 3 weeks ago as her current one was going to expire in 2021, she will pick up her new passport next week. If you don't then your visa will be valid until March 2020, looking at your timeline, things are not going very fast, hopefully things will start rolling for you. good luck.

Yes, you should... Once you get the new passport, scan it and send it through webform to CIC...
