- Is it still possible to apply for an OWP along with a PR inland spousal sponsorship application?

- However, that got me thinking – do we have to send the medicals in with our application if we want the OWP to be processed with the 1st stage approval (medicals seemed to be required for the OWP to be processed)?

- Which application form for OWPs applies to INLAND SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP PR applications in the case that the spouse is a VISITOR to Canada, and did not previously hold a work permit?

- If the answer to the previous question is the "Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker", then I am very confused about all the things requested in the checklist, e.g. job offer letter or contract from the employer giving job title, wages and working conditions, PHOTOCOPY of your valid return ticket, etc.

- On the same topic, how do we specify that the application is for an open work permit and not for a work visa extension, etc.?

Hi

Yes, the OWP app is sent with the inland PR app to Mississauga. CIC will forward it on to the appropriate office.

The medical is not required for an OWP unless she wants to work in certain occupations such as childcare.

It's the Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker.

This form is generic. For the requirements that don't apply, simply put N/A or write "OWP" in the field. Across the top of IMM5710, write in big letters something like "Open Work Permit app to be processed with inland spousal sponsorship app".

As above.

Where is your spouse from? It may be better to consider an outland application. Your spouse can remain in Canada extending her status as a visitor while the outland app processes.

Okay, I'm a little confused, but I'll post in the relevant thread as I did not realise that requirements may be different due to which country is applying. Thank you guys for replying.

Post about what exactly? The email you received should have told you what you need to send (photocopy or actual passport) and to which office you need to send it to. If it said send a copy to Ottawa, then go for it. If it didn't say you could send it to Ottawa, then don't.

Sorry, I tried to go look at the Outland Applications for the UK thread as I wasn't fully clear. I should have been more clearer with what I was stipulating, apologies and through the reply I didn't realize that there were differences for different nationalities depending on whether they are Visa Exempt or not. As I am from the UK, I take it that I am Visa Exempt and therefore do not have to send my original passport, just a photocopy of my passport. Is that right?

Basically to summarise my situation: I applied Outland to the UK through Spousal Sponsorship. I got an email on Monday asking to send two photographs, a photocopy of my passport and fill in Appendix C. As I saw that I could send it to Ottawa for processing as I am here on a Visitor Visa right now, I wanted to check whether I could do that. I realise that I was being a little finickety, but just wanted to double check with people that I could do that.

As I said, if the EMAIL states that you can send the required documents to Ottawa, then go for it.

You do not send pictures in an album, you send all pictures to them loose. Some people have done the copy and paste into a word document and been fine, but they do specify that any photos you send them should be loose.

Thanks ! Can i write the captions at the back?

From what I've seen on this site you shouldn't have any problems because there aren't any income requirements for sponsoring your spouse. They just want to know that you aren't currently on welfare and that you have not filed bankruptcy within the last 12 months (hence why they want your Option C print-out)

I'd also include a notation in your paperwork if you still haven't found employment by the time you send in your application that you are currently looking for work.

Yes that is what im writing . Just worried . Thanks

I've seen multiple cases of sponsors with zero income (e.g., someone who only works in their home) successfully sponsor. The bar is convincing them you won't need social assistance. Employment can help do that, but is not required.
