Hi All,

I submitted my application for spousal sponsorship in Canada in Sept 2014. I am the sponsor and my husband is the applicant. I have heard back from CIC today and they have asked me to send them proof of my residence (in the form of lease agreement, employment letter etc) by 24th Feb. They have also written to my husband today, saying that in order to continue processing his application, they need more details on our relationship and how it developed. Again by 24th Feb.

My question is, does this mean, they have already reviewed my application as a sponsor and my husbands' application as the applicant? The reason I ask is, my understanding was that first my profile will get evaluated as a sponsor (Stage 1- 14 months) and once that is done, my husbands' profile will get evaluated (Stage 2).

Hope somebody has an answer to this :)

Thank you very much!
You applied inland, so Step 1 for inland involves checking both the applicant and sponsor. That's part of the reason why it takes longer.

Looking back, you did not meet the RO. Have you resolved that issue? If not, you could be putting yourself in a difficult position.

Hi there,

Thank you for your response. So what is the step 2 for inland? Police certificates etc?

I am on track with meeting my residency obligation as I have been in Canada since May 2013 and my 5 yr RO period ends in June 2015.

I should be fine right?

Cheers.

Hello everyone,

My outland application was received by CIC Mississauga on 29th October 2014, as per Canada post priority. Now as the form IMM0008 has been updated on 21st November, should I send in the updated form or should I wait for an mail from CIC-M? Would they accept the old form as there is just one minor change in the new form?

1) I installed they required keyboard on my computer and typed it that way. I suppose you could use pen if you absolutely can't find a way.

2) Unless your country guide has a required number (some do), there is no minimum or maximum number of photos. Quality over quantity, so don't send them 100 pictures of the exact same thing, send them pictures of different times and events throughout your relationship. There is no picture size (again, unless indicated otherwise in your country guide).

Thanks Milesaway, i tried typing my name in arabic but it takes only Alphabets and not making a proper word. i tried copying my name from a word file but again it splits it into alpha bets :(

I would wait until you hear a request for the new form.just have it handy if they do contact you.

If you've been married a long time and have kids, you won't need a lot of photos. We got married in 1997 and have two kids, so we only submitted 10, although we actually had fun going through all of our photos to pick them. If your relationship is newer, you'll want to show more, and I think photos of you and your spouse with in-laws (during holiday or family gatherings, not just at your wedding) tend to show legitimacy in a way that vacation photos won't.

But honestly, copies of joint bank statements, joint leases, and other joint financial or official documents (insurance cards with both names on them, copies of drivers' licenses with the same address (especially if they were issued in the past, not just recently), museum memberships with both names on them, car insurance policies with both drivers on them, etc.) are going to show legitimacy in a way that photos never will. Show that you share finances, and CIC isn't going to spend a lot of time doubting your relationship even if you just give them a handful of photos.

Hey guys,

Just coming back to the thread :)

In regards to the IMM 0008 form update: I called CIC and they say it shouldn't be a problem and most probably they will just process using the old form and it would "time consuming" to send an updated form at this point without them requesting.

I think we are better off waiting till they request it - which they might not

Hopefully bcz I have called them to and the agents never say the same thing ..ai have tested them. I've called them regarding the same question 3 times I got 2 different answers..According to this form 0008 they told me that its better to fill the new one up bcz uve send the old form. Its not our fault bcz we have to send the forms over the seas and for sure it takes long .

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I've been searching to find an answer to my question but haven't so far. Was wondering if anyone can help/advise.

I submitted my spousal immigration application to the Mississauga office end of August 2014. I got a letter from CIC about 4 weeks later saying I needed to submit an updated form for IMM1344 as there was an update made in August. I submitted the new form first week of October.

Does the timeline for Step 1 start from August or October since the "complete submission" was technically only received in October? I haven't received an acknowledgment from CIC yet.

Thanks!

Hi Najo

You have an august applicant outline 2014 topic too,the most of those applicants had to resend the updated form. We subbmited ours on Sept 26, and got SA on Nov 12th before that didnt heard anything from them. In total we waited for 86 days to get SA.

HI everyone! I submitted my application just this August 2014 and Immigration received my application on September 3, 2014. I haven't received any update from them either from mail or email but the processing time on their website says like this:

Spouse, common‑law partner or dependent child
44 days

(Working on applications received on September 29, 2014)

I am a bit worried, Is this normal? I tried calling their call centre but no luck.

Thank you

We called 62 times before we got someone.... Be persistent, we heard that the VO sending out notifications is backed up and I heard someone else on the forum was told they received SA via phone.
