yes, if you want a longer extension, you have to ask for it. if you have to apply for another extension, it's recommended to ask for at least 12 months so you don't have to keep applying.pedropil said:My visitor extension/visitor record arrived today, im was given until 2017/march.
I saw some i the spreadsheet was given until 2018, maybe because i inputed for 6 months only ;D
Yes thank you CDNPR2014, I figured out lately and worries too before that it might deny my extension. Now i know.CDNPR2014 said:yes, if you want a longer extension, you have to ask for it. if you have to apply for another extension, it's recommended to ask for at least 12 months so you don't have to keep applying.
If we have visitor extension that expires in October, 2016. Do we have to extend it if we have a Sponsorship & PR application and an OWP granted?CDNPR2014 said:yes, if you want a longer extension, you have to ask for it. if you have to apply for another extension, it's recommended to ask for at least 12 months so you don't have to keep applying.
Your husband has a OWP? If so, that's all he needs.browning911 said:If we have visitor extension that expires in October, 2016. Do we have to extend it if we have a Sponsorship & PR application and an OWP granted?
Also, do we have to extend our TRV?
Okay thanks Profiler! ;Dprofiler said:Your husband has a OWP? If so, that's all he needs.
For me, i'm going to extend it again while my PR is in process. Better to be sure. Legal status on Visitors visa and Work permit to work.browning911 said:If we have visitor extension that expires in October, 2016. Do we have to extend it if we have a Sponsorship & PR application and an OWP granted?

The OWP gives you legal status in Canada -- that's what you need to remain. You can save your money on the TRV extension.pedropil said:For me, i'm going to extend it again while my PR is in process. Better to be sure. Legal status on Visitors visa and Work permit to work.
Ok, thank you profiler.profiler said:The OWP gives you legal status in Canada -- that's what you need to remain. You can save your money on the TRV extension.
If I may ask... When did you apply for it? I sent my request for restoration of status last month and I cannot find the processing time for that anywhere. They only show processing times for extension (not my case) and new visitor visa from inside Canada (not my case either). I'm trying to get some idea when should I expect an answer...pedropil said:My visitor extension/visitor record arrived today, im was given until 2017/march.

Since it came from Vegreville AB as well, it takes 5 business days from the date of issue and received it from mailbox.
most likely same from our OWP.
Mine was issued to me on August 02 and it STILL has not arrived in the mail. I am in Edmonton so it should have been here within days. My 6 weeks is up on Tuesday....hopefully you are not in the same boat as me because having to wait an extra 6 weeks is incredibly frustrating.Ringlands said:anyone with owp care to advise how long it took to arrive in the mail after being approved? its been 2 weeks so far and the pdf from cic said to only call to chase it after 6 weeks. I'm in bc so it will probably be different for us all but just so I know canada post is shocking and not that its lost......
I visitor extension application received by cic last may 20. Paper application, total of 3 months 20 days.maria_mirabela said:If I may ask... When did you apply for it? To remain in Canada, yes. To re-enter Canada if you want to go for a trip somewhere, not so. If you are not from a visa-exempt country you will need to apply for a TRV (the stamp in your passport) to re-enter if it is expired. You'll notice the work permit specifically says 'This document does not guarantee re-entry'.profiler said:The OWP gives you legal status in Canada -- that's what you need to remain. This is true -- but it's generally not a good idea to travel while your application is in process. You run the risk of having an immigration officer at the border revoking it due to it being abandoned.polarvolcano said:To remain in Canada, yes.
