Hi all,

Getting ready to submit my PGP 2024 application but have some questions and hoping members can help clarify:

For context, I am sponsoring my parents and my spouse is co-signing the application.

1. Total number of people/family size I have put as 4 (Me, Spouse, Father, Mother) - my 2 siblings I did not include as they don't meet the 'dependent' category - is this correct?

2. I am including the IMM5476 form (representative) as I will manage the application on their behalf - in the application guide it says separate 5476 forms must be completed by the sponsor (me) and the principal applicant which is confusing - can someone clarify? I thought only 1 form is fine?

3. In form IMM5768 (income requirement) - leave questions 9 and 10 blank? since there are no 'previous undertakings' for either myself or spouse. And this form cannot be validated, does it have to be electronically signed or by hand?

4. My father's details about his father (Date of death) - the exact date is not known since this was in the 1900's (only the year is known) - how to go about this? Can I just put the year and give explanation in letter of explanation? There is another section for form IMM5669 that the applicant needs to complete that is asking for the complete date of death if applicable and this is causing some confusion.

5. For form IMM5406 (Family information) - do all family members have to be listed under children (including myself?) or only dependent children? Additionally, how do I put the name in native language in the online form?

Would appreciate any guidance from members. thank you!

Hello I received the Email to Sponsor my parents. I am sponsoring my Father and Mother. Can someone confirm how much fee in total i have to pay ?
Sponsor your parent or grandparent

Sponsorship fee ($85), principal applicant processing fee ($545) and right of permanent residence fee ($575)
Sponsor your parent or grandparent
Sponsorship fee ($85), principal applicant processing fee ($545) and right of permanent residence fee ($575)
1,205.00

Include the spouse or partner of your parent or grandparent
Processing fee ($635) and right of permanent residence fee ($575)
1,210.00
Biometrics – per family (2 or more people)
Maximum fee for a family of 2 or more people applying at the same time and place
170.00

So in total $1205 + $1210 + $170 = $2585

or

$1210 + $175 = $1380

Hello,

I will be submitting the application for PGP this week. My parents are currently in India and in "current country of residence "in form IM0008 I have mentioned India. However, they will be coming to Canada on Supervisa in September. My question is when they come to Canada in Sept, do I need to inform ircc of their arrival by submitting the web form?

$2585 is the correct amount

Hi! Can someone help me understand the photo specifications?

I was following the guide (maybe an outdated one) and had my mom take a photo which was printed and then scanned on both sides. While looking at the checklist I saw the photo specs link which has additional specifications for digital photos.

Does my mom have to take a digital photo or would the printed/scanned photo work?

You don't need a death certificate for anyone. You just need to provide the date of death and location (e.g. 01/03/1996 - Kingston, Jamaica). If you don't know what it is exactly then you can just the location of where they died and provide a letter of explanation saying that you do not know the date.
Appreciate your response Thank you

Hi My family has moved to a different city and I have also moved to a different city in Canada since the time I submitted my interest to sponsor form in 2020. Do I need to provide letter of explanation or any proof of the move?

Hi All,

My spouse received an Interest to Sponsor for PGP a few days back. We had her brother added in the application when we submitted in Oct 2020 and he was just 19 years old then, which made him eligible for Sponsorship. And today he is not eligible anymore, as he is more than 22 years old.

So what should we do here? Without their son, the parents are not willing to process the application.

It took almost 4 years for the Canada Govt to invite.

Any suggestions?
Anyone in this situation or anyone encountered this?

It's based on your situation at the time of submitting the application not your status at the time when you submitted your interest to sponsor. That's what's determines who you can sponsor. The Interest to Sponsor is more of you saying "I want to sponsor to these people"...now you're submitting the application to actually sponsor them, so if you're situation has changed, you can submit the application for your parents only and maybe add a letter of explanation that your brother is no longer eligible. The door to him coming to Canada is not closed, he can always come here for schooling (and maybe move on to become a PR resident from there) but he will probably have a hard time convincing immigration that he's truly here for school if his entire immediate family lives in Canada.

That's something you'll need to discuss with your parents.

TLDR; Submit the application for your parents and determine an alternative way for your brother to immigrate to Canada.

EDIT: From the official source

Children 22 or older qualify as dependants if they
  • have depended on their parents for financial support since before they were 22 and
  • can’t financially support themselves because of a mental or physical condition
The only way you'd be able to add to the application is if you can prove number 2 and I could imagine you'd have to include some pretty strong evidence to support that.
