Hey enjoy the wedding and Canada and let us know how the criminal record check went ;D I'm just glad I have sponsorship.....I think British Bulldog STILL hasn't heard, if I'm correct.....

Still nothing more for me since sponsor approval. People's notifications of receipt do however seem to be issued at least a week after the VO has actually received it.

Off to Canada tomorrow for a family wedding - does anyone know if the border control will be able to see that I have an immigration application in progress when they scan my passport?

I've got my employer to write a letter for me to take with me, confirming I'm on annual leave and expected back at work in the UK next week, just in case!

I've also arranged to have a criminal record check done in person electronically next week at a Commissionaire's office for $56. Thought I'd make use of the opportunity actually being in Canada to pre-empt any possible request from the London VO for an RCMP certificate - which is a right pain (and expensive) to get from outside of Canada.

Good luck everyone, let's hope we get a few more acknowledgements of receipt coming through in the near future for us all.

I also didn't get how the strike plays in (since she said the application was already delivered by the posties to CIC-M on May 25).

It was in reference to sponsorship approval not date app received. She was approved and they mailed her the letter and it is now sitting in one of Canada Posts outlets waiting for delivery...which to me is a crock since they have had ample time to get "caught up" even though they complained of being down by 50% in mailings... :

Welcome to Canada...the country of dog sleds and igloos...LOL

I don't think they immediately see but once you tell them and then they will check, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone with experience can answer.

Me too is waiting for my DM letter so I called CIC yesterday. I said it's been 2 weeks since the postal workers are back, the guy corrected me and said "only 7 days maam". Anyways, he was able to open my file and said that I have been APPROVED to sponsor my husband and that our file has been forwarded to the visa office in Manila. Weary again that our file must be still sitting sitting somewhere I asked him if they send it through Canada Post but he said they usually send it differently (don't know exactly how).
Without a letter, at least now I know I have been approved and that our file has hopefully reached Manila by now. Now waiting for ecast update to confirm. And maybe that letter to read it to believe it.

Unfortunately they say they are still processing applications for May 25 at this point on the web site. This will be updated tomorrow.

I would suggest checking the site tomorrow and see if they have passed May 26. If they have you can call them and ask what is happening with your file.

I would never know that a DM has been made or that I am waiting for a letter if I did not check my application status online or thru ecas. I used my payment receipt number to open my file since I have not received my first letter which should say my client number and the decision made. tHE timeline to open file since the date received should be 4-6 weeks.

Try checking with ECAS. Or you can also sign up for ECAS Tracker that was created by a forum member to automatically check the information you give them with ECAS every 24hours and will send you an email if ECAS is activated, changed or updated.

Just checked my ecas and it finally says application received in my VO office.
Received on June 24


There dont seem to be many people with Application received, have they just not posted it, or is it taking that long to get to the VO becase of the strike?

Hey Darque, did you change the spreadsheet, I had added somethings the other day and its not there anymore. I'd prefer things not to get deleted since it takes time adding to it. Thanks

What!! File Transfer June 14, 2011 and Received on June 24??? 10 days! Thats just ridiculous. I thought they said CIC used their own special international mail delivery system and not Canada Post.

How "efficient". Not very encouraging; I had better relax on checking my ecas every other second. :'(
