Hello Everyone!
Have been reading your posts for a while...
Here is my situation. I am sponsoring my husband from Bogota. Our application has been received by Mississauga on April 26, 2012. Looks like they already are working on April 30 for 2 weeks now, but we haven't heard any reply yet. How long does it take for them to send a letter via mail when application has been approved?

Also I know people are able to access their info online, but for some reason I see no information when plug in our receipt number. ( I don't have UCI # yet). Did anyone have the same experience or is something wrong with our application?

Please help!

Hi....welcome to the forum....you should be able to call now since your applicatin was received before April 30th. The receipt number does not work on the ecas system....so don't worry about that. Call and they may be able to give you some more information over the phone.

hey!

You shoudl definitely hear something soon, and you can call them since the date on the website is passed the date your application was received. They should be able to tell you on the phone.
They send either an email, or a letter, but not both. the letter is sent I believe when the application has been approved, it might take some time to get to your address, depending on where you live.

Receipt number doesn't work for most of us, you need to wait to have a UCI and file number to be able to log into ecas.

Oh also, when you call them do you know what information do they ask for to find my application? Do they need the tracking number form the post office?

no...they will ask for your receipt number.....sometimes your name and date of birth or sometimes the applicants name and date of birth......

Our VO is New Delhi, My husband forgot to write that his UK visitor visa was refused in 2007, (Background Declaration Schedule A) Point 6.

But he wrote that his canada tourist visa was refused before marriage as he wants to give me surprise before marriage and also ticked in the point 6(d) YES. Should he resend the form also mentioning about his UK tourist Visa Refusal, because also he has stamp in the passport about UK.

He travelled many countries for business also travelled UK too, but just missed to write about this Uk refusal he had once.

Is this misrepresentation ? or can he resend new form also mentioning about UK and send to Canada or Delhi will they accept it !

still application is in canada(missi) for sponsor approval , file no. is not generated.

Anyone who can pls advise this is serious.

I'm not sure you'd have to send in a whole new application form. I would just reprint that one page, or write a letter informing which sections on the app you'd like to change and state what that change is. Be as clear as possible in the letter. I think that would be ok, but I'm not 100% sure.

Ours still says Application Received even though Ottawa told me that the file is now in process. I think eCAS is just PMS-y

hey!

Don't worry about ecas - for some VO, it never really changes. Some applicants got in process although their visa was issued, and it changed to Decision made one week after issuance of the visa... some VO are better at updating than others...

I noticed this morning when I logged into eCAS that Step 2 is only updated quarterly not weekly like Step 1. I'm sure most of us will be contacted before eCAS is updated. Just putting it out there

Wow if that's the case, most of the applications will be finished or nearly finished by the time they update. Not good!

I think the quarterly updates refer to the Visa Office's issuing times. The last update was April 23/12 for the January 1 to March 31 period. There were some changes in some Visa Offices. They have not yet update from April 1 to June 30th!!! Surprise Surprise. Stage 2 is updated by each individual VO and hence the inconsistencies.
