Hello! I'm new to this website, and just wanted to introduce myself here in this thread.

I'm from America and my husband is Canadian. We applied on March 27th, 2012, and he got his sponsorship approval on June 22nd. Since we're going through the Ottawa office in the midst of their restructure, that's all we know right now.

We're all in this together, right?

Same here i'm Canadian he is American! Amoss from January just got approved we have Elokpo who went in process in june and he's from february but they requested documents for him. So all in all we finally have activity!! We should hear something either september/october hang in there guys!!!

It's so strange, I would think that people using the American VOs would be the fastest. Yet, in all actuality, Beijing seems to be the fastest.

I wonder what makes one faster than the other? Size of staff? Speed of work? Or does Canada set specific quotas for each office?

I don't get it either... And strangely, we had 2 different CIC workers make the comment that the fact my husband is a "white American male" it's playing against him... That infuriates me... We are such a multicultural country and because he's a "white American male" the odds are against him.... Really?!?!?!?

It might be the number of applicants... because of the proximity there are lots of US/Canada couples, and probably quite a few applying for PR. And even if the cases are most likely quite "simple", there is a very big number..

These numbers (for which there is no attributed source, and thus I cannot authenticate them) do support the idea that closing Buffalo won't help: Buffalo had 4,702 applications in queue. Los Angeles had 196, and Ottawa had 529. That would represent a 10x increase in Ottawa's workload and 25x for Los Angeles. Even if they were well prepared for this, it will take time for processes to work properly, staff to learn how to circumvent the system to get work done ;D and normal processing times to be established.

It's not fun waiting, but there's no alternative.

Hi there,
A little update last Friday I received my AOR from Vienna, they stated it may take 11 months or more.
That's 3 months more then stated on the cic website. They closed Berlin as well and I think this is the result of all the extra applications they received.

I think there's going to be some growing pains with VO closures and processing times everywhere. Hopefully it doesn't take them long to get it all sorted out

Its a very different process here in Colombia. I have the benefit of living with my wife through this process, and it took me 45 minutes at the Colombian Visa Office and 200 bucks to get my 2 year spousal visa. 1 more year and I can get my Colombian residency...for an additional 200 bucks, and 1 simple application form!!

I know I'm late to this thread, but is there a March spreadsheet? Can I be added to it?

Filed March 23rd, app received March 27th, sponsorship approval June 22nd then (I hope!) file transferred to Ottawa. The sponsorship approval email is the only correspondence we've gotten, so no AOR, I'm assuming.
