I got my AIP this morning, but I was also requested to send a new Background declaration. In the letter it says: "The specific dates you must account for are: FEB 2014 to PRESENT."
Question: Should I still complete the form according to the last 10 years or should I just put the new info?
The one thing CIC actually advised us correctly on, is when printing out your background declaration forms leave the last date blank and write "PRESENT" in by hand.
That way, they see the ending date as "Present" and they say to themselves "oh what a coincidence, present is today's date, therefore this form is very complete and good".
When they see the ending date as "Feb 2014" they say to themselves "uh oh! they're hiding something! what were they doing while this application was sitting in the application heap? Probably pillaging Somalia!".
It's a little ridiculous that they can't put two and two together, see that they got your application in January, so obviously from "Feb 2014 to PRESENT" you were waiting for them to get to your application.
But that's CIC for you.
Fun fact, CIC is actually where they film the "before" scenes from infomercials. You know, the ones featuring people who can't open jars, peel carrots, or use blankets.
