This surprises me since I know I had governmental mail forwarded. Some things that are marked "do not forward" (like the PR card) will not be forwarded, but this is the first I've heard that Canada Post will not forward any governmental mail.
Hi,
I was told by the CIC call centre that CIC-related mail would not be forwarded.
I expected a letter from our landing office a few weeks ago but did not receive it. At that point, our address had been changed in e-cas but the old address appeared on e-mailed letters received from CIC. The call centre stated that no letter had been sent out.
About one and a half weeks after changing our addresses with the call centre, a letter was sent out from the landing office to the new address.
As it is difficult to believe the CIC call centre, it is hard to know from our case whether mail is forwarded or not. As has been stated elsewhere and also based on my experience, I still recommend that people change their addresses with e-cas and with the call centre, and then follow up with the call centre to check that the addresses have been correctly changed.
I also recommended that applicants add their sponsors as representatives, since this simplifies communications and makes it possible for both applicants to receive information from the call centre and change their addresses with the call centre.
