The application won't be affected even if you lost your job. If you are on EI, it is ok because it is not a social assistance. But you have to find another job if your spouse has no job. :P happy New Year!!!!

I am not that familiar with w1 visa and the its conditions. Your friend should know about it. Or if you wanna help him/her you can research about it at www.cic.gc.ca as I can't get the answers right now kinda dizzy, anxious and depressed from waiting... ;)

One legal way is to look for employer who is willing to give an approved LMO so he can apply for a work permit and he should apply for another visa as you can not extend a w1 visa.

MP office emailed me back those same words as I am a February applicant too. I emailed them when it was six months and unfortunately when they received my email the processing time changed to 11 months that same day. Was really pissed off but what can we do but to wait. It's hard as Christmas is...

Yes, she can still stay in Canada even If her work permit expires but she cannot work without new work for a new employer. If she wants to work for a different employer, she must acquire a new work permit. Or she can wait for the OPen Work Permit when your sponsorship application is approved. ;)

She will be on implied status when it expires, that means she can still work with same conditions in her current work permit until she receives her new Open Work Permit. That's the best thing to do, apply OWP with the application. ;)

Sigh!!!! No movements still.... Hope someone gets good news tomorrow. This is ridiculous. The gov't is prioritizing the typhoon victims first... It's really good thing to do but they should add people to do that and still do the regular processing since we already were affected by the strike...

I feel the same way... :( so anxious and can't sleep already and then no movements. Sigh!
