Hey guys,

Most people applying for PR in here have to "land" but my gf is already living in Canada working on a PGWP.
We are still waiting for AIP..so lots of time..but once we receive AIP then DM (hopefully we get them at the same time) she obviously doenst have to 'land'...so once DM is issued to her is she technically a permanent resident? or is there another step after DM for those who are already living here?

thanks,

There is another step after receiving DM. We go to a local office of CIC to have a landing interview. Then we will be given COPR ( Confirmation of Permanent Residence ). This is 'land'. Unfortunately, we can't designate the date of interview. After DM, CIC will send a letter about the landing interview to applicant.

LaylaLala;

We were actually called for an interview before the AIP. Since we had a red flag to our file I (sponosor) was questioned for about 50 mins and my husband was asked to wait with our son outside. Than once the officer was done with me she called in my husband for less than 2 mins and then asked both of us to come in and she gave us AIP. They only call you for an interview if there is something serious in your file. I guess someone doesn't like us thats why created problems for us thats why our process took 22 months. Your file was cleared thats why they sent you AIP without questions so your good :).

All the very best for the last step which is the PR that my husband is waiting for too.

Thank you for the clarification! I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. But it is a relief to pass that stage isn't it? Haha Now, to wait some more. Best wishes for you and your family! ;)

Ahhh thanks both of you guys.

Thats going to be such an exciting day. the CIC office here in Vancouver is right downtown. The day that she 'lands' and signs the final doc will be awesome. Such a good reason to celebrate. The cic office is near one of my favorite bars haha so that's convenient.

I hope they keep it up! Go CIC go! I asked hubby the other day what he wanted for Christmas and he said AIP. I doubt they'll get all the way to April before Christmas, but a girl can always hope!

When you receive AIP by email does it usually go in the junk bin or just normal new emails if you get what i mean? :)

We received ours in the normal inbox. I am sure you will receive your AIP soon, but it seems like CIC is actually processing files in order, so you may have to wait another week or two. I sure hope they'll process everyone's file ASAP :).

If you have received your email in your regular inbox in the past, then you got nothing to worry about. If you haven't gotten any email correspondences at all, you may want to keep an eye on your spam/junk folder. There has been reports from some people who claimed they found the notifications in their junk folder folders. If they are in junk folder, just simply open the email and select "not junk or not spam". This will register the email as valid and keep it out of junk.

Hey same-boaters!

I'm unable to check my application status online since May, it's only with my sponsor's info that we can access (application received). Is this normal??
AOR: March, 2013.

Thanks and keep it up!! 8)

I can feel the positive vibes here. Im so happy to read good news. Just a tip, (i dont know if it helps) but make sure to add cic email address (remember when they sent you your aor) to your contacts. That way, it will read it as a normal email and not a spam. Altho, hubby said, if you received email from them before already, then, it should read it as a normal email. Haha. I still added it in my contact list. It wont hurt to be more careful just so my email reads it as a normal one. I asked him to do the same. And he did:) i think this waiting game is making me more creative and resourceful. I should be!

Did you use the application/file number to access yours(applicant). You should be able to access it using that info. We use the sponsor's uci to access hubby's.

Who gets the email? Sponsor or sponsored spouse? I should be next, applied on Jan 22, 2013!

In my case I was the only one who get AIP and DM email all at once. My wife the Sponsor never got any email from CIC.

Exactly what Screech said. I got it in my inbox, but it's always good to check your junk mail, just in case. ;)
