I think the agent wanted to get rid of you and make you stop calling.

Also, i think CIC defaults to a 90 day wait period between any requests from applicants. i know when a "file specific inquiry" or an inquiry from a CIC call center agent is put in, another one can't be made for 90 days, so that may be why they are suggesting to call back in Feb. Technically, they won't be able to do anything for you until that request has been closed or until 90 days has passed, and as sophiee suggested, they don't want you calling daily or weekly for updates.

Are they mailing stage 2 results now rather than email? I am not aware of this?

The CIC agent implied that a letter had been mailed to us. We haven't received any emails and our status has not been updated online. I'm not sure what the protocol is for this stage. We have been waiting 10 months for stage 2 approval.

Implied? Usually they just tell you. Maybe they were just getting rid of you. I suspect this is a tactic of theirs. As the call centre has NO contact outside of email with the office that process they basically just read your file off on their system and do nothing. So inefficient.

They just say three months to everyone now. They are trying to keep people from calling and they know nothing is going to happen any time soon. The longer they keep you from calling the better.

We are October 1, 2013. I expect that it will take at least 18 months to get fist stage approval, which I suppose is 3 months past the 15 month mark they are calling for, but that is just a coincidence.

15/16 months waiting is not enough time??? We have the right to know what is happening with our Apps!! The right to be heard, the right to get good answers & actions ???

Well, according to the post they made here (several pages back), they were asked for additional proof of their relationship, which is NOT AIP.

For all I know many of us are doing their best to know what is happening in oir APPS. this is frustrating and depressing. What can we do? Nothing. But patiently waiting for the right time. And when is that. Only CIC knows.

I hope when 2015 comes it will rain AIP OWP and DMs..

Well, the hubster and I are celebrating our 21st month at step 1 tomorrow. It's been a long, long, long, LONG battle for us so far and we're not nearly where we thought we'd be. We thought we'd be long done celebrating his PR by now and we still haven't gotten AIP. Yesterday was the first time CIC told me anything different about his file. They said they're working on the security/background checks. The girl said it was a good sign and oh man do I ever want to believe her. I want to magically wake up and see an email in my inbox that says he's going to get an open work permit and we can breathe easier. We need some good vibes sent our way!

But security and background checks are part of step 2...AFTER AIP!

Download the document ip08 from the CIC website and look at the flowchart (somewhere near page 43, I believe). It clearly shows that these checks are AFTER AIP.
