1-you only send ''copies(or photocopies) of originals(that are not in english or french) so,birth certificate, police check,,marriage certificate(all in spanish) you send a copy with a certified trannslation...
and the embassy of cuba in canada makes a lottttt of money from their ''legalizations'' and ''translations'',,but again what r u gonna do?

did the notary in Cuba that did your marriage keep your original birth certificate?

quick question thoug,,,when you got married in cuba,,did you bring 2 marriage certificates from the notary in cuba or just 1?

We got two marriage certificate. they had different color "stamps" on them. I have both originals now (keeping my copy, and wasn't 100% sure if I needed to send my husband's copy, so I brought it back in case I had to send it with the application)

Agreed! So confusing... I may have read it wrong (along with about 4 other people I asked to read it) but none of the cuban's documents (birth cert, marriage cert, etc) are in english or french, so you need to send a notorized, certified translation, with a copy (like photocopy?) of the originals. The only original I sent was the police certificate (with the notorized, certified translation.). They still have not asked for the original certificates, so I don't know if what I did was right or not. What did the rest of you guys do? did you send your original birth certificates and marriage certificate?

Speaking of originals, can anyone tell me why we needed to spend so much money to the cuban embassy to certified and translate our canadian birth certificate, divorce certificates, for them to keep the original in Cuba? WTF?? Seriously? Why do they need my original certificate? I ordered a copy when I got back, but I no longer have my original. I don't get it. did this happen to everyone or just me?

I just went ahead and sent originals of everything i think just to be on the safe side (passport, police certificates, cuban ID) figured it couldnt hurt... They took copies of the passport and mailed it back but didnt mail back the original ID soooo I dont know what to think Lol Whatever as long as they have it im happy

I think we only got 1 at first and the 2nd one took a few weeks because i remember my husband going back and forth for a few weeks to get the wedding certificate

I only have 1 marriage certificate and it went with the application (the original). I took a copy for myself.

I have heard on other forums about bringing their MIL to visit.

I have a friend who is Cuban. She moved here about a year ago and her hubby invited her mom and dad. They both were granted super visas for 5 years. In and out as they please. Only catch is that every 6 months they have to go back to Cuba and come back. ;) appearantly it was very easy and not expensive.

Lokyy. I only got one and only submitted they one. Its the long marriage certificate that gets issued from Havana a few weeks after your wedding. U bring it back and you only need to translate it. It doesn't need to be notarized. Just translated.

That's what I did at least. Hope that eases your mind ;)
