THOSE ANTS DIDN'T HAVE PAPERS!
ILLEGAL!
ILLEGAL!

They probably had tiny papers.
I imagine the CIC Ant office is pretty efficient.
Well, I hope they learn the language quickly and that they traveled here with their family
I guess any left back will just catch the next suitcase over!

hello everyone, well i guess its ok if i dont change the name...i would not know also so dont worry but it would have made sense that if i started changing things in the middle of the process it would not be good. He also suggested i change it in the future but has not pressed the issue. Maybe if i was to live in Tunisia it would be better so i could fit in better over there. oh about the animals yes i have 3 of them so i guess if i had to go there to stay for a while they would be coming with me...i read it can be a bit traumatizing for them. i seen some people there have dogs....he also had one but his family were not much for keeping it. Thats one of many things we have in common we love animals and he dreams that here he can actually own a dog...there his family only allowed cat and birds.

Hello again soblue3, not sure which province/territory you live in but if it is Ontario a suggestion for the name change is to change your health card and driver's license only, which can both be done for free within 60 days of your marriage. Just go to any Service Ontario location with your marriage license/certificate. If it is past 60 days you will have to pay a fee for each. You can leave your passport as is (unless it is time to renew it soon) so you do not have to change any information on the immigration application. If your passport will require renewal soon you will need to inform CIC of the new number and/or name change.

Depending on what you and your husband decide to do about combining finances (or not :D), how long your application process will take and if you may have to move to be with him (or not) it gives you some time to make all the ID changes in a more incremental way (or not!!).

Funny enough with regard to the "immigration of pets", I do know that if a person immigrates to Canada from the Ukraine their animal does require a passport of its own :p. Not sure if those are the rules for all pets "immigrating" to Canada or only from certain countries but I'm sure another forum member will chime in on this one soon enough. Blessings.

LOL @ Fido's Passport! No, pups and kitties don't need passports coming from the US, but they need rabies certificates. Ferrets are a bit more complicated, but still don't need passports. Can't speak about any other animals though :D

Another question i wish they would ask at the interview:

"when this guy leaves you after he gets his PR are you going to go running to the government complaining they didn't protect you enough from your own stupidty and try to weasle out of your responsibilities as sponsor?"

I hope your relationshiop is genuine and that everything works out for you. But if its not, i hope you take full responsibility for it, instead of doing what many Canadian women do which is start screaming for TOUGHER sponsorship rules, which in the end make life difficult for and restrict the freedom of thousands of innocent honest couples.

Would that be a sponsor interview?
Are sponsors interviewed also when an applicant is interviewed?

Doesn't the new 2-year restriction thing kind of remedy the situation you mention?
Or is there something I am missing?

Hello steerpike
i am not sure where you coming from with that comment. all i know is that i truly feel my relationship is genuine. I dont believe anybody would enjoy spending 2 hours everyday for 2 years with somebody just for the heck of it. and if he would leave once he gets here...by now i know him enough so that i dont believe that for one moment...but if he should it will be he whom i would blame not the government....if you have some explanation to your comment please let me know.

There are not sponsor interviews, at least not that I've ever heard about. You have already been approved as a sponsor, so if an interview is now required, it will be your hubby that is requested to attend. I think the only time I've heard about both spouses being required to be there was a couple of Inland applications, but those may be due to proving you are residing in the country with your spouse, I don't know. The odds of your spouse requiring an interview is indeed high so do not be surprised if he is called for one. I think you can OPT to be there when his interview occurs for moral support, and it would also show the VO you are serious about your relationship, however, I don't believe they let you in to also attend the meeting. You just kind of wait until they are done with him and they may or may not ask you questions.

Wish you the best of luck!

It would make sense to have both people interviewed, but I am too new to this to know the process.

The interview typically happens during the application processing.
Any time they want to address any red flags or want information that can't simply be sent in.

It's good to prepare for it. Though a lot of interviews are waived it is better to assume there will be one.
