I don't get what you are saying. In a country where you can't get any real benefit, how will anyone suck Canada dry? It isn't like Canadian govt is handing out free stuff to everyone. People seem to be working for what they get.

It looks like Canadian economy is slowing down and unemployment is rising. These might be the reasons why the multitude of STEM candidates who are expecting ITA are not getting invited. Truckers, Trades and Health might continue I guess.

I've been trying to suck canada dry but I can't even get a family doctor assigned for myself.
Besides that I'm getting taxed between 30 and 40 % income tax and 13% sales tax.
Thankfully I have a generous Chinese landlord who is only increasing rent by 5% instead of the 20% compared to my friends
No different I have been trying hard with all my strength to suck Canada dry but only the reverse happens, my bank account goes dry every month. Then I lick my wounds and move savings from abroad to again bait Canada/CRA, I’m very confident I will lose the battle but win the war

All the points mentioned here are correct but Canada's situation is not unique in terms of housing / rental inflation and healthcare challenges. I have friends in Aus, NZ, Singapore, Germany and I have heard all the same things from them as well. The thing is when people are waiting for PR they only think once I get PR life would be better and sometimes (or may be many times) it is not true.
Examples from Australia
You can talk to people from UK / Ireland and some think Canada is better. You can see many posts on Reddit of people from there trying to immigrate to Canada.
The fact is that things were getting bad and Covid kind of has messed up things all over the world for middle class. The geopolitical scenario hasn't helped and with all the inflation, interest rate hikes and mass tech lay offs everything is just messed up. May be things are better in GCC countries. But all the countries where one has decent chance of immigration are facing very similar issues.

True. This is all over the world but the Federal Government of Canada, unlike other governments, is actively trying to make the situation worse by boosting the amount of temporary migrants. There are no limits to the amount of international students who can arrive in Canada. That is the most idiotic decision any government can make. Since Canadian universities and colleges, unlike Australian universities, have caps on the amount of international enrolments (imagine if they didn’t have this), some bad actors in this country, have opened up private strip mall colleges for the sole purpose of trafficking international students into the country. At one point in time, Australia and the UK were known for having huge numbers of fake students attending private diploma mills and engaging in low wage work. The UK started to crack down on them and then the practice ended. As far as I know, Australia still allows it but Canada, which did not have this issue until recently, has doubled down on promoting this. One can only imagine what the reasoning behind their stupid decision is? The negative consequences for this are far greater than any benefits. The kids attending these private diploma mills belong to the lowest wage groups and drive down productivity instead of increasing it. On top of that, they put an enormous strain on public services. Like I said before, if Canada solely focused on permanent migration, a lot of affordability issues could be solved. It’s the sudden implosion of international students and temporary workers that has exacerbated the issues. The longer the government ignores the issue of diploma mills and international students, the greater the general public will turn on all immigrants. The Liberals are tanking in polls. They’re most likely out by the next election.
The irony is that the objective of the Federal Government is to prevent this cause it wipes out the middle class, tanks the economy and increases wealth inequality. Yet, their policies are actively promoting the opposite. They’re actively trying to set newcomers up for failure.

I doubt any PR or citizen who has lived here more than 6 years are affected much by the rise in property prices. At least those who bought their properties at a 1/2 of todays price. yes those who move cities will need to buy even that could be avoidable.
yes the young ones - grads or one starting families will be affected but they have options of moving to smaller towns with affordable real estate at least. The new immigrants are the most affected I feel. Interestingly some of my companies India offshore folks don’t want to come on short term assignments to Toronto anymore. They get paid better in India compared to the cost of living they say.
You are absolutely spot on Singapore has been like this even a decade and a half back. Asian work permit households share apartments, citizens get affordable housing from the government etc.. Now they are losing workforce, hence investors also and for certain areas they are paying expats amazing salaries I know folks earning north of 300k for regular roles eg oracle implementation consultants.
NZ is a mess they don’t have a large industry presence or jobs to support many white collar immigrants. I’m still amazed why the cost of living is so high but a country that has nothing other than beatific natural beauty.
Australia I agree not very different from canada I live there until Feb 22.
Canadian job market is a mess right now. I didn't really realize until recently as I've been employed but looking on LinkedIn, undergraduates from tier 1 schools are having difficulty finding entry level jobs a year after graduating. I'm sure new immigrants with 10 years of experiencing willing to get paid 50K per year plays a part in this. These are for white collar jobs. Forget part time jobs. Lamdas from India are lining up from 7am in the morning to work at grocery or tim hortons. The videos are all over tiktok instagram and even appeared on Toronto Sun. Sad times.
Imagine moving to Canada so your kid can attend Univetsity of Toronto only for some immigrant with 10 years experience willing to do the job for less. Shit I'd be pissed lol

Looks like Ontario tried to sweep literally everyone with Trade occupations. 2855 invitations and score between 250-516. Out of which they will definitely lose 1500 invitations to the EE Trades draw. Either it’s a master stroke as they anticipated the EE draw and hence invited more numbers than usual or it’s plain simple dumb if they actually wanted to invite that many people. Either way, the communication between Ontario and IRCC seems non existent.
That's how a federation works. Provinces have a lot of autonomy from the federal government. Quite similar if not more independent than states vs fed govt on US
