On 16-7-2014, I have taken the DD from HDFC bank, by confirming all the details, they said the validity is 6 months.
Today I called customer care and told them all the details. The Customer care said me that the DD is valid for 3 months only !
I have not sent the application yet
What to do!
Shall I use ICICI CC
confused
Buddy, Dont get panic....Check the below Oscar's post....Customer cares sometimes provide wrong info regarding the DD....It is happening same on BD for the standard Chartered bank...
Oscar7 said:[size=9pt] Rohit, The guy probably misguided you at SBI. RBI does not have a restriction. There are about 100s of us who have used 6 months international DDs from Indian Banks this year for FSW 2014. The sorry state of affairs in our countries is even people from banks misguide their own customers. That is why a lot of want to go to countries that are run with due respect to individuals and systems.
FSW is absolutely right in his comments. Axis, HDFC, ICICI and even Thomas Cook offer 6 months international DD in CAD. Please speak to their branch head / head of forex. And if it doesn't work by speaking politely, please ensure you know when to raise the voice. Unfortunately, this is how it works sometimes here.
