I have read on the Internet that Certification of Birth and BC are not the same. So I am not sure if this has been accepted in the past.

Internet can say a lot of things... question is - is it from a valid source? if you are sure that it is indeed from a valid source.. like an official release ..then dont take chances.

it is not accepted. search for valid BC in this forum, u will get the info.

and to all.. Pls do not give information if you are not sure, and not spoil other's application and dreams.

I have no intention to spoil anyone's dreams mate, just explaining why it is not a problem. Consulate's General of India is no small deal. They are the higher ups in the govt hierarchy if you recheck..the constitution of India. And a certificate from them is lot more powerful than a local municipal authority as they are usually the one's to issue. All that the CIC would need is a guaranteed proof of age so that they dont calculate points unfairly without proper background check.. who else can question the credibility of consulate general of India?

The thing is both my BC and Class 10 mark sheets have my first name mis-spelled. Class 12 marksheet does not mention DOB.

So the quickest way I have is an affidavit with a copy of my current BC.

Ur's look like one of the unique cases, better have this looked up by an expert in canada immigration and see what works best!

I can understand what you are trying to say but if that were true - wouldn't CIC be satisfied with the Passport itself rather than having to verify BCs ?

So unless u r sure do not reply, your intention might not be to cause loss to others. But if we are not sure, please mention "I'am not sure it's just my point of view"... There will be lot of people who could take ur advice and could have their apps reject.

Point taken. I was sure of my answer hence I put it here, else as you said I would have mentioned that I wasnt sure.

I think the last year the rejection was not due to certificate from consulate but the fact that he did not include a birth certificate at all and the other person wanted to know if the consulate authorization will work.

And in another case the CIC call center itself clarified as well that they do accept the consulate's certificate.

Yes, do the quickest thing for now. But do you have any plans to get the spelling corrected on the BC, by getting a new BC issued. I don't think that's a herculean task, especially when BC comes handy every now and then. Who knows when you would get the time to get it fixed once you relocate to Canada? Although it is your prerogative, carrying incorrect documents won't help much brother!

Yes I intend to get the document corrected. But my parents are living with me in Dubai and only going back to India in the end of August. So rectification is not the quickest in my books at the moment.

Passport doesnt have the details that a birth certificate has.

Guys I am 6 May applicant, CC charged on June 5, PER not received yet. I just checked the ECAS with my previous year UCI and it finally identified me with "We have received your application on May 6"
