Quick question That I just thought of,

When requesting the scanned copy of your passport, in what situations will CIC request for a police check to be resent to them?

Since everyone has already sent them a police clearance in the original application, why ask for it again?
In our case the police clearance with the original application was the FBI report. The second police check was an RCMP one for here in Canada.
This required an entirely different set of fingerprints be sent to the RCMP in Ottawa. This was a digital set. The bite was that the results of the police check had to be snail mailed back from the RCMP in Ottawa to us and then we had to snail mail it back to CIC in Ottawa. Good business for Canada Post but painstakingly slow for us. Not entirely sure why the second police check was required ::)

got my PPR yesterday (6/11/2013) as well! Though they are asking for proof of residing in canada from my wife and proof of funds as well typical scans of passports for me and my son.Interview was also waived.

I find it odd that they are asking for proof of income though...
Congratulations :D

We found it odd that they asked us for an RCMP police check since they already had the FBI one ::)

Hello everyone,

I want to join this forum and will need help. IvanP, can you please add me to the excel sheet?

Category applied : QSW
Application sent to: Sydney (March 7, 2013)
File transferred to: CPP Ottawa (April 25, 2013)
Medical done: May 2, 2013
ecas status: application received

Can anyone tell how long it takes after medical exams?

Thanks
Hi, this spreadsheet is for Family Class applications, not QSW. :)

To get better answers to your questions, you may want to post in the Federal Skilled Worker category.

Congrats on the PPR, and sorry they are asking for additional docs!

As an aside, I've highlighted the last column (known reasons for delay), to make it easier to look at timelines where additional documents have been requested. It seems like additional docs (e.g. docs lost by CIC...) are being requested more often lately, and it also looks like the time from PPR-plus-docs to COPR is generally going to run at least 60 days.

You can add us to the last column please. The reason for the delay was a request for an RCMP police check in addition to the PPR.
Thanks IvanP

Done, and you're welcome! My hope in adding that final red column was to help sponsors and applicants to see what causes delays, and how to avoid them when possible, so your addition is helpful!

A Texan here too. I asked my brother in law the other day "y'all like avacados?" He looked perplexed and I thought 'my goodness! He doesn't know what a avacados is!' Nope he just couldn't process y'all. Finding that everywhere I go :p

I've been sending requests for updates to people who've received PPR but haven't received visas yet, but don't have time to send messages about landings to those who've already received their visas. If you've got updates, please forward them to one of the keepers of the Ottawa spreadsheet.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, that's too funny! My husband is depressed knowing that he won't be visiting here and feasting on Tex-Mex food. :) Avocados and all kinds of peppers are available fresh in Edmonton, but the quintessential Rotel tomatoes are not. Even the "Mexican tomatoes" at Wal-Mart contain tomatoes and bell peppers, and the Pace picante sauce was the same!

I got a call today from CPP-Ottawa stating my permanent residency has been approved! She said depending on Canada Post, I'll have it in either a week or two but less than a month. The woman I spoke to was so, so nice. She said it's time to celebrate!

I haven't posted much on these forums, but I've been lurking for a very, very long time. Without you guys I probably would have lost my mind. Thank you!!

Hello all, I would like to update with you my timeline and landing information. (I tried to post an update right after landing but failed. After that I totally forgot about posting it. Thanks so much for Ivan's effort to maintain the Excel records! he/she sent me a reminder today :))

3/13 I received PPR
4/9 I sent my real passport to Ottawa through USPS Express. I am not from a visa-exempted country, so was required to send passport. Even though USPS express is very expensive (~$30), it gives you a tracking number which priority mail does not for the internatinal mail.
4/12 My mail was accepted in Ottawa
5/7 I received my passport back with an immigration visa stamp as well as COPR. My previous multiple entry TRV was stamped as "cancelled without prejudice". Before receiving the package I was very nervous because Ottawa would only mail through regular mail. The PPR letter stated that no prepaid evenlop will be accepted for international mail. Luckily I got everything back.
5/22 I landed in Edmonton Internation Airport almost mid-night. The whole landing process took less than 10 minutes. The immigration officer did not even mention about B4/B4A forms. I told him that I will go back to US after a few days to wrap up my work and permanently move to Canada in a couple of months, he suggested me that I will not be able to come back unless I have a PR card or a visa (I assume he was talking about travel document). He also said now the PR card processing time is up to 2 months.

Good luck!

My computer is broken...... no idea what exactly happened, but my cat walked on my keyboard a few times. Now I can't acces Google drive (or Adobe Flash Player/DirectX).

It's very annoying. I'm going to ask my husband to look at it this weekend. Hopefully he can fix it.
