14 weeks since Ottawa received our passport copies and the docs the VO wanted (photos - because they Mississauga lost them, CSQs - because Ottawa claims never to have received them, and more documentation of my (sponsor's) intent to move to Canada...), so ordering notes again. Ugh.

Wow, Ivan, that's just crazy. I'm just hoping mine comes in within about 30 days or so to let me move at the end of next month. My in-laws are driving down to pick up my things and haul back to the border, to storage, if necessary, but I really hope to be headed that way, too, instead of living in a hotel. And your lease is starting!

Hi All ~

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on something...I am currently in Canada on a visitor status with my hubby, and we are hoping we get PPR in the next month (I am a January applicant, and it looks like December applicants are seeing some movement). Any advice as far as getting a job is concerned? I am just dying to start my job hunt but don't want to start interviewing because I am still not sure when I will receive my PPR, or even land for that matter and get an official SIN #. I am going crazy not working but I want to be with my husband during the duration of this process. So frustrating but I know there's really nothing I can do...

What are your thoughts? I would love to hear your experiences with this as well!

I'm in the same situation as you - down to applied in January. I've been taking classes online to fill my time. You can take classes with a USA school (and get the Pell Grant if you didn't claim your husband on your 2012 US Taxes) or a short program - 6 months or less - with a Canadian school. So you could audit some courses or get a certificate to brush up your "Canadian" skills.

Yeah I realize that probably doesn't fit into the time frame you're thinking about, but with the strike, who knows what will happen.

Yes, I'm not at all happy about how this is panning out. We seem to have been shunted to the back of the line, or lost behind a filing cabinet, or I don't know what. And there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it until Ottawa's 12-month average processing time has run (and who knows whether the strike will turn that 12-month average into 14 or 15 by the time it rolls around for our application - how's that for a miserable proposition?).

I do hope others are not delayed, and you can take some solace in the fact that my family's case is relatively anomalous!

Wow, Ivan .. I'm so sorry to hear this. I thought ours took forever when we got PPR in February and it took until May until we received the COPR. Has anyone from the Ottawa office responded to you at all?

Nope, not a peep. Did your VO ask for anything other than your passports? Excluding dustwing, Viictus and Midwest (because they haven't responded when I asked if they had any updates), only proco has a longer PPR-to-COPR-receipt time than us, and that seems to be because proco's passport was requested twice (Ottawa must have lost it the first time around).

I guess I'll write again - doesn't seem to be too much else I can do for the moment.

No, all the VO asked for was his passport biopage scan. Then when we finally received it, we saw that they had issued the COPR in February but somehow it didn't actually get mailed out until May. My only guesses are the VO was on an extended leave (sick, vacation) and it had been left there for awhile, or it somehow got lost in a paper shuffle. At any rate, I'm just glad we eventually got it despite the delay. I'm so sorry to hear yours is taking forever - I hope you hear something from Ottawa soon.

Well I'm glad Ottawa is moving despite the ongoing strike. I actually just fixed my laptop i brought down here with me so I'm at least able to walk down to the public library to use the internet now ;)

I sure hope you get your COPR, Ivan, at least before I do because it'd be a darn shame. :(

Thanks - I don't mind other people getting COPR faster, I mind my family's COPR taking forever!

Yawn!! I didn't know about this strike was that serious. I'm still waiting for my pr card. I'm not worried about it but it'd be nice to have a piece of Id that tells who I am in this country. I'm hating the rain in Alberta. I thought the spring was supposed to be nicer. I'm not that excited about the upcoming summer weather now.

Hope you get your COPR soon... It's high time for you. CIC sucks big time.

I have a question, since my medical got expired by June 15,2013, Do you they might have extended or going to request a new one ? Can I go ahead and do a medical ?
