It could have been an exercise of smoke and mirrors.

yaaaay Baloo is back!! ;D hmm, more than 1 month passed since these conditional visas; i suppose they r not law yet; r they making fun of our feelings and minds? :o

any latest news regarding this proposal?
i think conditional visa idea is great since i wont have to wait too long to meet my spouse. people are opposing this proposal because either they dont have trust in their relationships or they got married only to get PR status. many of them are saying that it will put women in vulnerable situation, but my question is why and how? if they think their spouses arent not good enough for them then they should leave the partner straight away and leave canada. but if they want a PR status then they have to maintain their relationship with their souse even if they dont want to live together. So that means the relationaships were made just to come to Canada. if they are scared of leaving Canada then they are a fake spouses and because of them genuine couples are suffering. I guess they new proposals are not threat to genuine couples and above all it will be a helpfull tool to prevent fake people to cross their country border. take care guys and good luck

As long as the IO's handle it properly...then only positive can come out of this. I think some people are afraid that it could cause some unfair treatment as immigration can be a little unpredictable at times and even and IO can be wrong in their judgment occasionally. They are only human! But I highly doubt it will be a negative thing. I am for it...I believe only real marriages should ever make it across our borders unless people qualify under refugee status and other legitamite means. We can only fit so many people in this country and we are not the answer to EVERYONES problems...no matter how much I'd like to see less people in this world suffer. We need to keep our population under control to enjoy free healthcare, and other benefits of this great country!!

As long as the IO's handle it...I have no problem if it happens to my husband and I. We are together for the long haul...so it really affects us very little!

what if a conditional PR spouse is abused by her sponsor (husband) and his family and they are children involved too? that spouse would have to stay in an abused relationship just to have permanent PR; otherwise she could be sent back and be forever away from her children :o right? it's easy to see things from our perspective but what about the ones caught in the middle? who would care about them and their rights? the conditional visas should have some exceptions but how would u prove that or how the officers would b trained to detect those exceptions, that remains to be seen ::)

but does anybody know when its gonna come into force?

No, not yet. Parliament goes back into session later this week so possible it could become law this summer. There has been plenty of negative feedback about this from the legal community. But who knows what will happen or when?

Sounds like a good idea..... No-one legitimate can get affected by it. Even if they are legimate and have a legimate problem after say a year and divorce, then I don't see whats wrong with sending them home. They did come as a spouse, not a worker or anything. 2 years sounds about right too. Even 3 doesn't seem so bad.

Maybe this could make them spend less time investigating us. My visa office is listed as up to 20 months now. :(

hope this will come into force this month

any one has an any idea whether it will approve or not????i heard very negative comments but is there any possibility ...it will approve or not

no not yet, most of the crap ppl are opposing it

is there new news on recently proposed spouse sponsorship changes?
