When file reaches islamabad and goes into process, they eliminate the old file #/ UCI # (at times) and provide you with a new one. The same happened to me also. Doesn't really mean much, just protocol i guess...

Could anyone plz tell me?
If processing time will decrease in 2014 then it will positively effected on 2012 applicants??bcoz mostly 2012 applicants still waiting. .

Question is "if' doesn't mean it's gonna happen. Let's see if it goes down. I've heard many stories stories about timeline goin down, but the only way it went was up.

Asslamualikum,

As per video and article - Chris Alexander is referring to Economic Applicants.

As per the website below the list of Economic Applicants List. Their is no Family Class Immigrants which are us waiting for our spouses to join us in Canada asap.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-ec.asp

Economic Applicants - Type of application

Skilled Workers
Provincial Nominees
Investors
Entrepreneur
Start-up visa
Self-Employed Persons
Canadian Experience Class
Live-in Caregivers

Quote from his article

"He said the goal is that by January 2015, it’ll take just six months for a successful economic applicant to get a visa and hopefully, not much more than that for their dependents, be it children and spouses or parents and grandparents, the latter of whom will be able to apply again starting Jan. 2 after a two-year hiatus to deal with massive backlogs."

I don't think Chris is going to be helping us very much with the back log I do hope I'm wrong and have misunderstood his message.

If you agree or disagree with me please let me know.

Thank you

ASyed :-\

I took a while to think about your opinions here and the only thing i tend to agree with is the third statement. (Not that im a huge fan of Pakistani politics/protocol)

I think this falls down on the Tories, the liberals were more family friendly. Stephen Harper is more like George Bush. "Either your with us or against us" policy. I understand Pakistan is not helping the case either with our deteriorating conditions within. However, what surprises me is when some of my family/friends from the same country enter into UK withing 3 weeks or in France within 6 months (Mind you France is not a huge fan of Islam) or believe it or not Italy within 8 months. These European countries, somehow manage to bring in Pakistani spouses quicker. It comes down to CHC. Our government is not supporting Pakistani settlement in Canada easily. Unfortunately we can't do much because we as paksitani don't have a voice ( A Pakistani) in the national assembly.

Few things I can think of which has led to the long wait times would be:

1) Law and order situation in Pakistan deteriorated significantly after 2007 and there has been less staffing in majority of the embassies in Pakistan since then. No country would want to risk their diplomats in a country where there is hardly any law and order so we know for a fact that CHC-I is short staffed. Also after 2007, rampant corruption became even more common in Pakistan thanks to the incompetent government at that time which has led to further scrutiny of applicants

2) Volume may have gone up quite a bit in past three or four years. This I think may be attributed to the fact that many baby boomer Pakistanis immigrated here in the mid 90s to early 00s with teenage kids. These kids now being marriage age have started getting married which may have led to the higher volumes. Just a hunch. I do not have concrete stats for this claim

3) Tories themselves want to discourage immigration of any sort from such third world countries

Just my 0.02 cents.
