Allah ka shukar hai, I have finally exited the long, dark, and narrow tunnel :) Today, my wife received her passport back along with her original documents through TCS. Interesting though that she submitted the passport through FedEx Gerry's visa service or something like that, but I am not complaining :) I will post my detailed timeline sometime today or tomorrow. For now I leave you with this:

February 5th, 2011 - Mailed my sponsorship application with my wife's permanent residence application via post office in Mississauga

September 8th, 2012 - Passport/Visa delivered to my wife's doorstep in Rawalpindi.

Total processing time: 19 months and 3 days! :)

Congratulations! Nice to hear that bro! May Allah bless you! Amin!

Hello dear members as some may know from my earlier posts I am sponsoring my wife and she will be doing re-medical on sep 10 and sending her passport on sep 11. I am a canadian citizen and my wife is currently pregnant and will deliver sometime end of january to middle of february inshallah. Some people here have said for 90 days once she arrives she will not be covered. My question is , does anyone know a number or place I can go can find out like Health Canada, etc or something. Because I want to be exactly sure and also how much it would cost to deliver the baby here in Canada. I live in Ontario if that is relevant.

Hi,

i am not sure about any health canada thingi but i know without health coverage doctor's visit cost somewhere around $150-200 and case charges will be approx $5000.00.... but i heard they will reimburse the amount once your wife gets coverage

No PPR this week for the ppl waiting after remedical....

Salam Everyone,

After I came to know about AOR from this forum, I contacted CHC Islamabad via email and inquired about the status of my application. Luckily, I received Acknowledgement of Receipt of Application two weeks after that.

The information they have requested for is a lot :( .

Do I have to provide this information for myself only as I am the only applicant in my application since my husband is my sponsor and not an applicant himself ? We do not have any children to be included in this application.

Shall I provide Supplementary Information Form about myself only? Same goes for the other forms.

Looking forward for the usual help from the members of this forum.

Only those of us in this process know the pain of being away from spouse but I urge you to have child in Pakistan-no immigrant except refugees have health care coverage until their thrd month in Canada...it varies a bit by province but that's generally the rule. I've heard cost of delivery being around 10,000 dollars and a lot more if any complications. I doubt there is any private health insurance that will insure a pregnant women so I think just wait. Sorry...

With all due respect I think that you worry about the money way too much. I have lived through this recently, my wife gave birth to our baby boy in Pakistan a couple months ago. Our son was strong, alert and healthy. He suddenly got diarrhea so we admitted him to the hospital in Pakistan. He was there for a few days and suddenly died. Dr says it is just Allah choice about who dies, but what I discovered was the medication he received was most likely fake and he reacted to it negatively.

On a side note, I had the best doctors and facilities that money can get in Pakistan. At the end of the day im over $20,000 in hole and have a wife who is going through hell and back, and myself having my heart absolutely shattered. If I had the opportunity to have had my child in Canada and it meant I had to work 5 jobs and max out every credit card I had I would do it in a heart beat.

That happened with a relative of mine. He needed a Cat scan within the 3-month period, before his coverage. But he was reimbursed later.

The AOR letter is addressed to the applicant only and all the supplementary forms require information from the applicant only. My wife's AOR letter only required information from her (the applicant).

That's a very tragic thing that happened to you. I'm very sorry to hear that.... :(
