hey thanks for the advice...how long does it usually take for you tor eceive the requested info (if i use ur specified method)?? like lets say fi i email them by tommorow. how long would it take?? also, is it $5?? cuz i was on the website and i raed some crazy price ranges starting from 30 and they kept creeping up!

Hi Guys,

Here is a faster way to order CAIPS Notes that I discovered after I called CAIPS main line:

1- Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/completed.asp

2- Download and FILL in the following 3 forms:
1-Access to Information and Personal Information Request Form (IMM 5563) NOTES:check Email box for the form you want to receive the CAIPS in.
2-Authority to Release Personal Information to a Designated Individual Form (IMM 5475)
3-Credit Card Payment Form (IMM 5667)

3- Scan the forms and send them to the email address ATIP-AIPRP @ cic.gc.ca with Title CAIPS Request.

This way you can avoid the Mailing to and from Ottawa delays and receive them by email.

and one declares these things at the time of immigration? ie: on the form they send us or what? because I havn't even rcvd my medical yet..hence I've absolutely NO idea about the forms..

Yeah you can pretty much bring anything you want without duty. Lets say you have furniture, car etc you want to bring aswell after you land they will let you get the shipped with no tax. You are right anything and everything that is legal obviously.

Things not allowed:

-Firearms and other weapons
-Meat/meat products; dairy products; fruits;
vegetables; seeds; nuts; plants and animals or their
parts/products; cut flowers;

Things you must declare:

-Currency and/or monetary instruments of a value
totalling CAN$10,000 or more per person.
-Commercial goods, whether or not for resale
(e.g. samples, tools, equipment).

They give you the card to fill out in the plane before landing to provide at the time of customs and immigration. In addition you can also just bring a typed list of goods that you are bringing with you to Canada, that helps a little...
