I am now hinging my hopes only on the effective date of residency clauses.
This is also my last hope. I need at least 4 months to qualify for citizenship application.

I am eligible in 3 weeks .. As I said before it won't come into force directly anyways. And I think there is still possiblility the Bill wont make it before Summer Break .. Second reading usually takes multiple sittings... in the House of common it took long time.

these threads unfortunately feed on myths.
Man People are panicing for no reason, Even if the Bill Passed Before Summer Break .. it won't come into force directly .. Just think about it logically ..

Check this:

http://www.parl.gc.ca/content/lop/researchpublications/prb0903-e.htm

"Acts may come into force on a pre-established day following Royal Assent. The reasons to delay the commencement of an Act or any of its provisions are multiple, and may include reasons such as giving time to the population to adjust to the new Act, or giving time to the government to make the necessary preparations to administer the new Act once effective – for example, by staffing an office, obtaining financial resources, or preparing regulations."

They need to prepare the system for the new changes (New Form, Calculator .. etc). Also it never happend that any Act like this comes into force directly, it is even mentioned in the Bill C-24 itself "under coming into force section" that it will come into force on a certain date decided by the council.

It Never Happend also that a Citizenship Act came into force immediately.

one can check the "coming into force" section of the bill to decide when it will be in effect.

well ofcourse. it's dependent on other bills as well. Economic Action Plan 2013 Act, No. 1 and Bill C-425

check the coordinating amendments section.
